Huawei is a roll after the recent launch of multiple smartphones in the Chinese markets. The Chinese giant has scheduled a new launch event in China on September 25 to unveil the Huawei MatePad Pro 13.2 tablet, which is believed to be the largest tablet from the brand. A tipster has revealed key specifications of the upcoming Huawei Flip smartphone (via), which will be the successor to the Huawei Pocket S.

The company couldn’t launch smartphones with proper 5G connectivity owing to the ban imposed by the US Govt. The ban forced the smartphone giant to launch smartphones with 4G chipsets of Qualcomm. The Chinese giant recently manufactured Kirin 9000s chipset using a 7nm process of China’s SMIC. After the ban, the recently debuted Huawei Mate 60 Pro is the first smartphone to offer 5G connectivity.

The company is looking to expand its 5G smartphone portfolio to increase the sales of smartphones. A recent report revealed that Huawei is expected to debut Huawei Nova 12 series smartphones in mid-October with 5G connectivity. The Nova series smartphones of Huawei are the mid-range segment, which has enormous potential in the Chinese and global markets.


The Chinese smartphone giant is also looking to re-enter the global smartphone market with its upcoming launches. The tipster has confirmed that the upcoming Huawei Flip smartphone will primarily target women. The tipster reveals that the forthcoming clamshell smartphone from Huawei will feature a better secondary screen.

The upcoming Huawei Flip smartphone will be thinner and lighter than the Huawei Pocket S smartphone. The tipster adds that the upcoming clamshell smartphone will be the first Huawei foldable device with 5G connectivity. The other specifications of the upcoming clamshell smartphone will likely remain the same. Huawei is expected to debut the first by the end of 2023 in China.

Targeting female customers with the upcoming clamshell smartphone reveals the intention to rival the HONOR V Purse smartphone that debuted in China. The smartphone was previously showcased as a concept smartphone at the IFA 2023 event. The Huawei Pocket S smartphone features a 6.9-inch foldable OLED display with a resolution of 1188 x 2790 pixels.

The smartphone sports an OLED cover display of 1.1-inch with a 340 x 340 pixels resolution. Under the hood, the device features the 4G variant of Qualcomm Snapdragon 778 SoC, built on a 6nm process. The chipset has four Kryo 670 Gold cores clocked at 2.4GHz, four Kryo 670 Silver cores at 1.8GHz and an Adreno 642L GPU.

The chipset pairs with up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. Huawei also equips the Pocket S smartphone with an option to expand the storage. The smartphone runs on Huawei’s customized HarmonyOS 3.0. Huawei equips the device with dual rear cameras placed inside two separate camera rings, similar to the HONOR 90 5G smartphone.

The smartphone sports a 40MP primary sensor with PDAF and a secondary 13MP ultra-wide-angle lens. Huawei equips the device with a 10.7MP selfie camera with f/2.2 aperture. Huawei Pocket S is backed by a 4000mAh battery with 40W wired fast charging support. The smartphone is available in Blue, Pink, Gren, Silver, Gold, and Black colour options.
