Vivo G1 5G with 6.44-inch OLED Display, Samsung’s Exynos 980 SoC to Launch Soon in China

It would appear another Vivo phone is soon going to be making an appearance in China and it is reportedly being called the Vivo G1. The news was broken by a Weibo blogger who says that the Vivo G1 will be sold starting from May. Now, the device has been spotted in Chinese certification website TENNA revealing key specs. The G-series is a completely new lineup of smartphones from Vivo and the G1 is its first smartphone.

Vivo G1 specifications

As per the listing, the Vivo G1 will come with a 6.44-inch AMOLED waterdrop screen and a resolution of 1080 × 2400. The design and measurements of the phone are near identical to the Vivo S6 5G.

Under the hood, the phone is supposed to pack in a chipset with a 2.2GHz base frequency. While it has not been mentioned explicitly, which SoC is being used, it is believed to be the Exynos 980 made by Samsung. This is not the first time that Vivo will be using the South Korean electronics giant-made silicone in its phones. Just recently last month the Vivo S6 5G was announced powered by Exynos 980.

Both the G1 and S6 also share an identical quad-camera system as well which includes a 48MP primary camera supported by an 8MP ultra-wide lens along with two 2MP sensors. On the front, there is a 32MP selfie shooter. The battery on the phone happens to be a 4,500mAh cell with an 18W fast charging solution.

The price of the device is speculated to be around CNY 3,000 which is approximately Rs 32,500. This price tag is about the same as the Vivo S6 5G which CNY 2,698 and CNY 2,998. There is no word currently on whether the device will make its way to India or not. Even if it does, it would be unlikely that a 5G variant of the device is announced as the infrastructure for it barely exists in the country.
