Barely 24 hours after we wrote this article about Vivo showcasing the first smartphone by its new sub-brand Vivo, we now have almost all the details about the device. As you might recall, it’s been barely a week since Vivo officially unveiled a new sub-brand called iQOO. This was followed by a report which talked about the possibility of the new brand launching a foldable smartphone in the future. This, however, is yet to be confirmed. What did get confirmed, however, was that iQOO would launch a traditional Android smartphone. We got the first glimpse of this new device during a television appearance yesterday. Back then, we only got to see the rear panel of the device where the triple camera setup is located. We did not have any other information regarding the design aspects and the spec sheet of the device. Just a day later, iQOO released a poster of the first iQOO smartphone which reveals the key specifications of the handset, Chinese tech portal IT Home reports.
Let us now check out what the spec sheet of the new iQOO device looks like
Vivo iQOO Android smartphone: Specifications, Key features
At the outset, it is interesting to note that we do not have an official name for the device yet and this new smartphone is currently being referred to as just iQOO. Another thing that we had talked about earlier was the possibility of iQOO being a premium brand and that the first device to sport the iQOO logo will most likely find itself being powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC. In the poster released by the company, Vivo addresses this possibility and goes on to assert that the Snapdragon 855 chipset would just be one of the many premium features the device will boast of.
For example, the poster clearly hints at the iQOO getting a massive 12GB of RAM and up to 256GB of storage. The phone will also support super HDR technology and use a 44W fast charger most likely based on Vivo’s Super VOOC fast charging technology. This will make the iQOO the first Snapdragon 855 device to feature 44W fast charging The device will also support NFC and feature a large 4000mAh battery.
Another interesting piece of tech that the phone will come with is what Vivo refers to as 4D shock. This, we assume, will provide haptic feedback to users in the midst of gaming. These features aside, the new handset will also feature an improved fingerprint scanner based on what Vivo refers to as the sixth generation fingerprint scanner technology. How much of a tangible difference these features would make in real-life situations is something that needs to be looked into soon.
Vivo iQOO: Launch and availability details
Vivo remains tight-lipped about the formal availability of this new iQOO device. Looking at the flurry of social media activity in China, it is possible that the device will be officially announced later this month before going on sale sometime in March. It is also evident that the iQOO will command a premium price tag. We still do not know if Vivo plans to bring the iQOO brand to India.
