Vivo is gearing up to launch yet another smartphone under its iQOO sub-brand in China. It will be taking after the gaming phone powered by Snapdragon 855 chipset, the Vivo iQOO. The upcoming phone is dubbed Vivo iQOO Youth Edition suggesting that it could be a watered-down version of the Vivo iQOO. In the latest news concerning the upcoming phone, the teaser posters of the smartphone have shown up on the Chinese social media website, Weibo.
Vivo iQOO Youth Edition Teasers Hint At Imminent Launch With Two Variants
The Vivo iQOO Youth Edition teasers hint that the phone may debut in different variants. One of the posters suggests that the phone could come powered by last year’s Snapdragon 845 SoC while the other poster hints at Snapdragon 710 processor. There is also a possibility that one of the posters has been faked so we can’t count on the information here as nothing has been posted via official Vivo channel on Weibo. However, going by the logic that Vivo is trying to launch a lite version of the Vivo iQOO, it seems likely that the company may have opted for the Snapdragon 845 SoC.
Another difference in the poster lies in the pricing. The teaser with SD845 SoC shows the starting price at CNY 1,998 (approx. INR 20,000) while the SD710 teaser shows the starting price as CNY 1,798 (INR 18,000). Again, we are a bit confused as there also lies a chance that Vivo could launch two variants with different chipsets at distinguished prices to offer a reasonable alternative to the buyers. For now, we can’t really confirm either of the teasers, which is why we must take all the information with a pinch of salt here.
In the teaser images, we also see that the phone bears a waterdrop notch housing the selfie camera. It also shows that the phone has an almost bezel-less display.
Vivo iQOO Youth Edition Also Spotted on Geekbench
In other news, a Vivo smartphone has been spotted on Geekbench with the model number Vivo V1914A. This model number is reportedly the code name for the Vivo iQOO Youth Edition. The listing confirms that the phone has 6GB of RAM and Snapdragon 845 chipset. It also shows that it runs Android 9 Pie.
We now wait for getting some official confirmation from Vivo in regard to the iQOO Youth Edition. The phone will launch in China soon. We can also expect the brand to bring it to India, maybe as a rebranded version.
