Chinese smartphone maker Vivo today introduced its latest flagship device, dubbed NEX Dual Display Edition at an event held in Shanghai. Vivo has priced the smartphone at 4,998 yuan, which translates to INR 52,100 based on the current exchange rate. The Vivo NEX Dual Display Edition will be going on sale in China starting December 29. Pre-orders for the smartphone are now live on the Vivo Shop online store in China. As for color options, the NEX Dual Display Edition will be available in Polar Blue and Nebula Purple colors in Vivo’s home market.

Vivo NEX Dual Display Edition Specs, Features

Vivo’s newest flagship smartphone sports a 6.39-inch Ultra FullView Super AMOLED Display at the front with an improved 91.63% screen-to-body ratio compared to the NEX. The panel offers 1080 x 2340 pixels Full HD+ resolution and a 19.5:9 aspect ratio. In addition to the main display, the handset features an additional 5.49-inch Super AMOLED display with 1080 x 1920 pixels Full HD+ resolution, which makes it possible for users to capture high-quality selfies using the triple camera setup on the back. Another key design element is the Lunar Ring on the rear display, with a glowing band of colors for signifying notifications. The Lunar Ring can also be set to pulse whenever you play music on the phone.

Under the hood, Vivo NEX Dual Display Edition runs on the same 10nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 octa-core processor as its predecessor. In the memory department, Vivo’s latest flagship smartphone will be available with up to 10GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. As you would expect from a Vivo flagship, the NEX Dual Display Edition features an In-display fingerprint sensor. Additionally, however, the handset offers TOF 3D Face Access feature for enhanced facial recognition.

Let us now talk about the camera hardware on the Vivo NEX Dual Display Edition. The smartphone comes with a 12MP Dual-Pixel Sony IMX363 sensor with 4-axis optical image stabilization, a specialized 2MP Night Video Camera, and a Time of Flight (TOF) 3D Camera coupled with an f/1.3 aperture lens. Thanks to the combination of the three sensors, Vivo claims users can look forward to a stunning camera experience. The specialized Night Video Camera is said to be capable of shooting stable footage in motion and low-light environments, while the TOF 3D camera enables enhanced facial recognition and personalized AI-powered beautification.

Moving on to connectivity features, Vivo NEX Dual Display Edition supports Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac dual-band, Bluetooth 5.0 Low Energy, GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, Galileo, USB Type-C port, and 4G VoLTE. The internals of the handset are fueled by a 3500mAh capacity battery, a downgrade when compared to the 4000mAh battery inside the Vivo NEX. In terms of physical size, the Vivo NEX Dual Display Edition measures 157.18 x 75.36 x 8.09mm. On the software front, the latest Vivo flagship will ship with the Android 9 Pie-based Funtouch OS 4.5 out of the box. It also comes with the manufacturer’s Jovi AI assistant.
