Vivo is all set to launch the NEX Dual Display smartphone today at an event in Shanghai, China. According to the media invite, the event will start at 7:30 PM CST. You can watch the event’s live video stream on Vivo’s official website. However, keep in mind that the event will be held in the Chinese language, which you most probably won’t be able to understand. Well, you do not have to worry as we will help you with what is happening at the event by publishing minute by minute live updates in English on this page.
The Vivo NEX Dual Display will be the successor to the Vivo NEX, which was launched in June 2018. In case you did not already know, the Vivo NEX is the world’s first truly bezel-less smartphone. It is also the first smartphone to have a pop-up front-facing camera. With the launch of the NEX Dual Display, Vivo is expected to take the bezel-less game even further. As the name of the device suggests, it will have two displays; one at the front and one at the back. So far, the Vivo NEX Dual Display has been leaked many times, giving us a pretty good idea at the device will have to offer. Here is what we know so far.
Vivo NEX Dual Display Expected Specifications and Features
The highlight feature of the Vivo NEX Dual Display will be its bezel-less design, and of course the second screen on the back. According to rumors, the front display will have a size of 6.59 inches, while the screen on the back will be 5.5-inches. Recently, a video of the alleged Vivo NEX Dual Display surfaced online showing how the rear display will look like in action. You can check it out here.
The Vivo NEX Dual Display will very likely be the first smartphone to feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor. Rumors suggest that the device will have 10GB of RAM; it might be true considering that flagship smartphones from other brands have started showing up with the same. Rumors also suggest that the device will run on Android 9 Pie operations system, and the OS will have a newer, redesigned version of the FunTouch OS.
The Vivo NEX Dual Display will also be the world’s first smartphone to feature a rear camera with f/1.3 aperture. In case you did not know, the lesser the aperture number is, the brighter the images will be, theoretically. Currently, the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 offers the least aperture, which is f/1.5. If rumors are correct about the aperture being f/1.3, the Vivo NEX Dual Display will beat the Galaxy Note 9. Recently leaked images show that the smartphone will have a triple-camera setup at the rear. The setup is expected to have a 12MP main camera with OIS and PDAF, a 5MP depth-sensor, and a TOF (Time of Frame) camera to scan the objects in 3D. We expect the device to come with 4K video recording at 60 frames per second.
A few leaks and rumors suggest that there will be no front-facing camera. You will have to use the rear camera for selfies, which makes sense as there is a display at the rear, where you can see yourself through the camera. The battery capacity of the Vivo NEX Dual Display is still unknown. I guess we will now have to wait until the launch to know about it. So stay tuned to know more.
