After being subjected to numerous leaks and rumors, the Vivo S1 finally went on sale in Indonesia yesterday. At the same time, the phone maker launched a very similar phone with minor tweaks under an entirely different name in China – Vivo Y7s. The change in its naming convention makes sense as there is another Vivo S1 in China that comes with a pop-up selfie camera, while the international model sports a waterdrop notch. Regardless, a new report has surfaced, giving us an exact timeline of when the international version of the Vivo S1 will make its way to India, along with its launch price.
Vivo S1: Leaked Price in India, Sale Details
According to 91mobiles, a Vivo executive spilled the beans on when the Vivo S1 will arrive in the Indian market. The smartphone will reportedly go on pre-order early in August, with its sale to commence from August 15. As for pricing, the Vivo S1 will be offered in two storage variants where the base model will offer 6GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage and will be priced at INR 17,990. The more expensive model of this handset will offer 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. The source was not able to confirm the exact pricing of this variant, though, but we don’t expect it to be too much higher than INR 20,000.
91mobiles also managed to get its hands on a teaser poster for the Indian launch of the Vivo S1 which revels the color options to be offered. The first is a light blue model that looks similar o that of one of the variants launched internationally. Surprisingly, the second model with a darker blue shade has a slightly different pattern when compared to its international counterpart.
Vivo S1 Specifications
The Vivo S1 sports a 6.38-inch Super AMOLED display that bears a Full HD+ resolution and a “Halo” notch at the top. This notch houses a 32MP selfie shooter, while the display conceals an in-screen fingerprint scanner underneath. At the back of the device, we have a triple camera setup where you’ll find a 16MP primary camera, 8MP ultrawide angle shooter, and a 2MP depth sensor.
The Vivo S1, alongside the Vivo Y7s, is one of the first smartphones to feature a MediaTek Helio P65 SoC. This houses an octa-core process paired with a Mali-G52 GPU. By default, the smartphone runs Android 9 Pie with FunTouch OS 9 skin on top. Powering this entire setup is a massive 4500mAh battery that supports VOOC 3.0 fast charging. The only downside here is that the phone till relies on the dated microUSB port for charging. This is a dual SIM smartphone that supports 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth 5.0, dual-band Wi-Fi, and a 3.5m headphone jack.
