Vivo has finally unveiled the Vivo S1 for the Indian market at an event today in New Delhi. This is a mid-range smartphone that emphasizes on ‘style’ as one of its key selling points. It was recently reported that offline retailers in India had begun taking pre-orders for the Vivo S1 ahead of launch, and now we have a definitive timeline of when the phone will be available for purchase. This same smartphone went on sale in Indonesia last month, which was followed by the release of a very similarly specced smartphone launching in China but with a different name as the Vivo S1 designation already applies for a very different handset in that country. Let’s now take a look at what the Vivo S1 has to offer for Indian customers, and how much the handset costs.

Vivo S1 Specifications, Features
Vivo has certainly considered overall aesthetics to be one of the major highlights of the Vivo S1. Both color models offer mesmerizing wave patterns on the rear panel that subtly changes hue from top to bottom. While the rear panel is indeed using plastic, there is a 2.5D curve at the edges to help provide a comfortable grip.
The Vivo S1 is another relatively affordable option that offers a vibrant AMOLED display with a Full HD+ resolution and a 90 percent screen-to-body ratio. This nearly bezel-less screen offers a ‘halo’ notch up top to house the selfie camera, while an in-screen fingerprint scanner has been embedded underneath.
Powering the Vivo S1 is a MediaTek Helio P65 SoC with its octa-core CPU and its Mali-G52 GPU. For software, you have Android 9.0 Pie-based Funtouch OS 9 out of the box. There is a rather large 4500mAh battery running the show, and it supports 18W Dual-Engine fast charging.
As far as imaging is concerned, the Vivo S1 offers a triple rear camera setup that is led by a 16MP Sony IMX499 sensor. This is accompanied by an 8MP sensor that captures 120-degree ‘super wide-angle’ shots. The third sensor measures 2MP and helps calculate depth data for portrait shots. Turn the handset around, and you get a large 32MP selfie shooter equipped with a plethora of features including gender detection, face beauty + bokeh, selfie lighting, panorama, live photos, and more.
The Vivo S1 is a dual SIM smartphone that comes with a dedicated tray for microSD card expansion. Other connectivity options include Bluetooth 5, Wi-Fi b/g/n/ac dual-band, 3.5mm audio, micro USB 2.0, A-GPS, GLONASS, and FM Radio.
