Vivo recently launched the S16 series in China. The company launched three smartphones in the lineup, the S16e, S16 and S16 Pro. The devices were launched at the end of 2022. The S16 and S16 Pro arrived earlier this year in India with some tweaked specs in the form of the V27 series. Vivo might launch the S17 series soon in China. The devices are likely to debut as the V29 series in India in the coming months. The company has not confirmed any details about the same. However, some key specifications about the S17 series have surfaced online.
A new leak has now revealed the specifications of the S17 and S17 Pro. Tipster Digital Chat Station, who has a reputation for leaking some key specs and features of smartphones days in advance, has now revealed (via) the S17 series specs ahead of debut. Vivo S17 Series: What the New Leaks Reveal
The Vivo S17 series is likely to launch later this year in China. The devices might debut in various markets, including India, as the V29 series. Ahead of the official launch, a new leak by tipster Digital Chat Station revealed that the S17 series, as of now, will feature two smartphones in the lineup. There will be the vanilla S17, on top of which will be the S17 Pro.
The S17 5G is said to feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G SoC, which is found in several other smartphones launched worldwide. The tipster also revealed that the more premium S17 Pro will get a MediaTek Dimensity 8200 SoC under the hood. The chipset is the same as the one found in the V27 Pro in India.
In addition to the processor details, the tipster also revealed that the S17 and S17 Pro will feature a 1.5K resolution display. The OLED display will be curved and manufactured by BOE.
The tipster also revealed some details about the camera hardware of the S17 series. Both phones are tipped to feature a 50MP main camera and feature a Sony IMX766V sensor with support for optical image stabilisation (OIS). The camera setup will also feature a 12MP Sony IMX663 portrait telephoto camera. The camera setup might include an ultra-wide sensor. Both phones are tipped to offer support for 80W fast charging out of the box.
A recent report revealed that the S17 series will include three phones with the model numbers V2283A, V2284A, and V2285A. The former two are associated with the S17 and S17 Pro, whereas the third one is for the S17e.
The S17 series is said to offer up to 12GB of RAM. The base model of the S17 series will feature 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. Some variants will offer 8GB + 256GB storage and 12GB + 256GB storage options. The top-end variant of the S17 Pro will feature 16GB of RAM.
The devices are said to launch in the third quarter of 2023. Vivo is yet to confirm any details about the same.
