Vivo S5 launched in China (Variants, price, specifications)

As scheduled, Vivo has launched a new smartphone in China today – the Vivo S5. The smartphone features an unusual camera layout, which sets it apart from other devices. The Vivo S5 also comes with a punch-hole display, making it the third smartphone from the brand to have it. Here are the pricing, availability, and specifications of the Vivo S5.

Vivo S5: Price, Availability

Vivo has launched the S5 in China in two memory configurations – 8GB + 128GB and 8GB + 256GB. The 128GB storage variant costs CNY 2,698, and the 256GB storage variant comes with a price tag of CNY 2,998. The smartphone will be up for pre-orders starting tomorrow, that is, from November 15. And the normal sales will commence from November 22. The brand hasn’t announced the availability details of the smartphone for markets outside China.

Vivo S5: Specifications

The Vivo S5 features a 6.4-inch Super AMOLED display with Full HD+ resolution and a 20:9 aspect ratio. The display, as I said earlier, has a punch aligned to the top right corner of the display. There is also an in-display fingerprint scanner.

The device has 48MP + 8MP + 5MP + 2MP quad-camera setup at the rear. The 48MP camera, as you might have guessed, is the primary sensor. The 8MP camera is an ultrawide unit. The 5MP camera is a depth sensor, and the 2MP sensor is a macro camera. For selfies, you get a 32MP unit.

The Vivo S5 uses the Qualcomm Snapdragon 12nm-based Snapdragon 712 chipset. It has eight Kryo 360 CPU cores and Adreno 616 GPU. The device, as you might expect, runs on the Android 9 Pie operating system with FunTouch 9.1 on top.

The device features a 4100mAh battery supporting 22.5W fast charging. Connectivity options of the device include USB Type-C port, dual-band Wi-Fi ac, Bluetooth v5.0, and dual-SIM 4G with VoLTE. Unfortunately, there is no 3.5mm audio jack in the device.
