Vivo has sent invites to the media houses in India for an event dated for December 9, 2019. The invite shows a silhouette of a smartphone that seems to have a punch-hole display.
Now, the only Vivo smartphone that is in the rumor mill, featuring a punch-hole display, is the Vivo V17. Considering which, the Vivo smartphone that is set to launch on December 9 is expected to be the V17.
Vivo launched the V17 smartphone in Russia last month. However, this Vivo V17 is a totally different smartphone than the Vivo V17 that is expected to launch in the Indian market. For starters, the Vivo V17 launched in Russia has a U-shaped notch on display, whereas the one that is set to launch in India is expected to have a punch-hole screen, as I said earlier.
According to recent leaks, the Vivo V17 will have a 6.44-inch OLED screen with Full HD+ resolution. The smartphone is said to feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 SoC and run on Android 9 Pie with FunTouch OS on top. Rumors suggest that it will come with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. Although, I think that there will be other memory configuration on offer as well.
The device is said to have four rear cameras – a 48MP primary camera, an 8MP ultrawide camera, 2MP macro camera, and a 2MP depth-sensing camera — in a typical Vivo fashion. The front-facing camera is said to be a 32MP unit. The Vivo V17 is said to come with a 4500mAh battery featuring an 18W charging option.
You can expect the Vivo V17 to be priced around INR 20,000 in the Indian market. At its expected price, the device will go head to head against the Redmi K20 and the Realme X. Unfortunately, the Vivo V17 lacks behind both of its competitors in terms of specifications, at least according to the leaked specs. Well, we can’t say anything for sure until it launches.
