Earlier this month, Chinese smartphone maker Vivo launched its latest V series smartphone in India, the V11 Pro. The company will soon be launching another V series smartphone in the Indian market, expected to be marketed as the V9 Pro. As the name suggests, the V9 Pro will be an upgraded version of the V9 that the company had launched in the country a few months back. While a recent report had claimed the smartphone would be launched in India next month, the teaser page on Amazon.in reveals it will be formally launched in the country on September 26.

Vivo V9 Pro: India Launch Set for September 26

The Vivo V9 Pro will be launched in India at an event on the 26th of this month. As we mentioned above, Amazon.in has set up a teaser page for the upcoming smartphone on its website, where you can sign up to be notified once it has been launched. The teaser page also confirms that the V9 Pro will be an Amazon-exclusive in India. However, we do expect the smartphone to be sold online via the Vivo India online store as well as offline retail stores across the country.

Vivo V9 Pro: Expected Price in India

The Vivo V9 Pro is expected to be priced under Rs.25,000 in India. Since the Vivo V11 Pro is priced at Rs.25,990 in India, we can expect the V9 Pro to be priced closer to the Rs.22,000 mark.

Vivo V9 Pro: Specifications, Features

The Vivo V9 teaser page highlights some of the key specifications of the upcoming smartphone. Just like the regular Vivo V9 (review), the V9 Pro will feature a 6.3-inch FullView 2.0 Display with a notch at the top. The panel will offer 1080 x 2280 Full HD+ resolution with a 19:9 aspect ratio. We expect the screen-to-body ratio to be identical as well at somewhere around the 90% mark.

While the display is going to be largely similar to the one on the V9, the V9 Pro will be a significant upgrade in the performance department. Instead of a Qualcomm Snapdragon 626 octa-core processor, Vivo has gone with a significantly more powerful Snapdragon 660 AIE octa-core processor. The Snapdragon 660 chipset is clocked at up to 2.2 GHz and features an Adreno 512 GPU. For improved multitasking performance, the V9 Pro will come equipped with 6GB of RAM. The amount of onboard storage, however, remains a mystery for now. And the same goes for the rest of the specifications as well.

Since the V9 Pro teaser page has no reference to an all-new dual-camera setup at the rear, we believe the smartphone might feature the same 16MP + 5MP dual-camera setup as the Vivo V9. On the front, the smartphone is likely to feature a 24MP selfie snapper paired with an f/2.0 aperture lens. Connectivity-wise, the V9 Pro will likely support Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac dual-band, Bluetooth 5.0 Low Energy, GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, and Dual 4G VoLTE. Some of the other features that we expect to see in the V9 Pro include a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, AI Face Access support, and fast charging support. The battery capacity, however, will probably remain similar to the V9. In terms of software, the smartphone will likely launch with Android 8.1 Oreo-based Funtouch OS 4.5 out of the box.
