Vivo expanded its V-series smartphone lineup in India in September with the launch of the V9 Pro. The V9 Pro is one of only three smartphones priced below INR 20,000 to run on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 AIE chipset, making it a decent option for anyone looking to buy a new budget Android smartphone. While it is currently available only in a single memory configuration with 6GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, we have now heard from a trusted source that Vivo may launch a 4GB RAM + 64GB storage variant of the smartphone in India very soon.

Vivo V9 Pro 4GB RAM Variant Expected to Launch in India Soon

Even though we cannot share any specific launch date at this point, we can confirm that the V9 Pro 4GB RAM variant will be launched in India very soon. The 4GB RAM + 64GB storage variant of the smartphone will carry a maximum retail price (MRP) of INR 17,990, which means it could be available for a market operating price of INR 15,990. That’s INR 2,000 lower than the 6GB RAM variant of the smartphone, which offers the same 64GB of internal storage. In terms of color options, the V9 Pro 4GB RAM variant will be available in the same Black and Nebula Purple colors as the current 6GB RAM variant. Needless to say, the 4GB RAM variant will be identical to the 6GB RAM variant of the V9 Pro as far as other key specifications are concerned.

V9 Pro 4GB RAM Variant May Help Vivo Boost Market Share in the Budget Segment

Vivo is currently the leading smartphone vendor in the INR 20,000 to INR 30,000 segment in the Indian market, all thanks to its V-series lineup. With the launch of the V9 Pro 4GB RAM variant, the Chinese smartphone maker is likely to increase its market share in the budget segment, which is currently dominated by Xiaomi. As mentioned above, the V9 Pro is one of only three smartphones below INR 20,000 to be powered by Qualcomm’s impressive Snapdragon 660 processor. As the 4GB RAM variant of the smartphone is expected to be priced just INR 1,000 higher than the 4GB RAM variant of the Redmi Note 5 Pro (Review), many buyers may not mind paying a slight premium for the superior chipset and the larger display. The Mi A2 (Review), which happened to be the first smartphone under INR 20,000 to feature a Snapdragon 660 SoC, is priced at INR 16,999 for the 4GB RAM variant. However, for a limited period, Xiaomi is selling the smartphone at INR 14,999. The most affordable Snapdragon 660-powered smartphone in India currently is the Realme 2 Pro, which starts at INR 13,990 for the 4GB RAM + 64GB storage variant.

The Vivo V9 Pro sports a large 6.3-inch FullView 2.0 IPS LCD panel with 1080 x 2280 Full HD+ resolution and a tall 19:9 aspect ratio. It boasts a 90% screen-to-body ratio, higher than pretty much all its rivals. In terms of storage, the V9 Pro includes 64GB of onboard memory, which can be expanded further by up to 256GB thanks to a dedicated microSD card slot. It also comes equipped with 13MP + 2MP dual rear cameras, 16MP AI selfie camera, Face Unlock, 3260mAh battery, and a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor.
