Vivo, earlier this year, made its debut in the foldable smartphone segment with the Vivo X Fold. The Chinese smartphone giant, back in September, launched the refreshed version of the X Fold – the Vivo X Fold+. Now, a new leak by famous tipster Digital Chat Station reveals that Vivo is working on a new clamshell foldable – the Vivo X Flip. Digital Chat Station took it to the micro-blogging site – Weibo to share the leak.
DCS further added that the upcoming Vivo X Flip will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon SM8475 processor. This suggests that the Vivo X Flip will sport a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor under the hood. As of now, Samsung, Motorola, and Huawei are the brands that offer Flip phones. Oppo is also gearing up to launch its first flip phone – the Oppo Find N2 Flip. Let us take a closer look at the details.
Digital Chat Station revealed that the upcoming Vivo X Flip will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor. Apart from it, DCS didn’t reveal anything about the upcoming flip smartphone. This is the first time we are hearing about the Vivo X Flip and nothing is known about the device so far in terms of specifications.
The upcoming Vivo X Flip will compete against the likes of the Samsung Galaxy Flip 4, Moto Razr 2022, and Huawei P50 Pocket. We can expect Vivo to offer flagship-grade hardware with its first flip phone so that it can go head-to-head against the best Flip phones available in the market. The Vivo X Fold+ flaunts an 8-inch LTPO AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a 2K+ (2160 × 1916 pixels) resolution folding display. It makes use of SCHOTT’s flexible ultra-thin glass. While the cover display on the device is a 6.53-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, Full HD+ (2520 × 1080 pixels) resolution, and SCHOTT’s Xensation glass protection.
Under the hood, the Vivo X Fold+ sports an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor that comes coupled with Adreno 730 GPU and is fabbed on TSMC’s 4nm process. The foldable smartphone packs 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 512GB of UFS 3.1 storage. It boots OriginOS Ocean which is based on Android 12. The handset packs a 4730mAh battery unit and supports 80W fast charging. It also offers 50W wireless charging and 10W reverse wireless charging.
The Vivo X Fold+ offers a quad rear camera setup that includes a 50MP Samsung GN1 Sensor with OIS support and Zeiss T Coating. It gets accompanied by a 48MP ultra-wide-angle lens with a Sony IMX598 sensor and a 114° field of view. There is also a 12MP portrait shooter with a Sony IMX663 sensor and an 8MP periscope lens with 5x optical zoom and OIS.
