Vivo is gearing up for the launch of the X Fold 2. The company has teased the launch of its new foldable smartphone in China. Vivo has confirmed the design of the phone and also revealed that the foldable phone’s camera system will be tuned in collaboration with Zeiss. The company has remained quiet about the other specifications and features of the X Fold 2. Now, ahead of the official launch, the X Fold 2 has been spotted on Geekbench.
The listing on Geekbench confirms some key details about the upcoming Vivo foldable phone. Let’s take a look at the Vivo X Fold 2 specifications, features and other details known so far.
Vivo X Fold 2 Might be the First Foldable Phone with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC
The Vivo X Fold 2 is set to make its debut in China on April 20. Ahead of the official launch, the foldable phone is listed on Geekbench. It has the model number V2266A. As per the listing, the phone draws power from a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC. The flagship Qualcomm SoC has a peak clock speed of 3.19GHz. It looks like the X Fold 2 will be the first foldable phone in the world to feature the flagship SoC from Qualcomm.
The variant of the X Fold 2 listed on Geekbench has 12GB of RAM. We can expect it to offer 256GB or 512GB of storage. The device can be seen running Android 13 out of the box. Since it is launching in China, the X Fold 2 will have the Origin OS 3 skin on top of Android. If the company chooses to launch the phone globally, it is likely to get Funtouch OS 13 on top of Android.
The X Fold 2 scored 1809 and 5050 points in Geekbench’s single-core and multi-core tests. The company has confirmed that the foldable phone has a circular camera module on the back. There is a triple-camera setup with an LED flash module. The foldable phone is said to feature a 50MP Sony IMX866 main camera with support for optical image stabilisation. There will also be a 12MP Sony IMX663 ultra-wide camera and a 12MP Sony IMX663 telephoto/ portrait camera. For selfies, the phone will feature a 32MP front camera on the cover display and another 32MP camera on the foldable display.
In terms of display, the X Fold 2 is tipped to sport an 8.03-inch Samsung E6 AMOLED display with a 2160 x 1916-pixel resolution. There will be a hole-punch cutout at the top right corner for the front camera. The foldable display will refresh at 120Hz. On the outside, the device will sport a 6.53-inch AMOLED display with a 2520 x 1080-pixel resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. The right side of the outer display is a bit curved to offer an immersive look.
