Vivo is gearing up to launch many smartphones in China and global markets, including India. Earlier, we reported that the Chinese OEM would launch the Vivo T2 series smartphone by mid-April in India. It has been a while since Vivo X Fold 2 and Vivo X Flip were rumoured to launch soon by the company. The specifications of the smartphone were tipped by various tipsters and revealed through various certifications. Recently, the Vivo X Fold 2 smartphone was listed in AnTuTu, revealing the scores of the device. A new Weibo post from one of the officials of Vivo has revealed the launch date of the forthcoming X Fold 2 smartphone.
Vivo X Fold 2 Officially Confirmed to Launch; Specifications Tipped
Huang Tao, Vivo’s Vice President, has revealed the company would launch the Vivo X Fold 2 smartphone in April 2023 in China. The official hasn’t revealed the exact launch date of the smartphone. The Weibo post reveals no other information about the upcoming X Fold 2 smartphone. However, thanks to the previous listing and tipped specifications to know more about the forthcoming device. We can also expect the company to bring the X Fold 2 soon to India as the first foldable phone commercially available from the house of Vivo. Though, we will have to wait for the official confirmation from the company.
The AnTuTu listing of the X Fold 2 reveals that the smartphone will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC built on a 4nm process. The chipset will pair with up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. The listing also tells us it will bear the model number PD2266 and run on Origin OS 13 based on Android 13 out of the box.
The device has scored over 1.3M points, significantly higher than most smartphones available in the market. It would be the first foldable smartphone to feature Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset. The upcoming X Fold 2 is tipped to feature an 8.0 inch E6 AMOLED display with 2K resolution. The display will have a refresh rate of 120Hz and support an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint scanner.
In the optics department, the device is tipped to feature a triple rear camera setup which is a downgrade from the quad-rear camera setup on Vivo X Fold. The setup consists of a primary 50MP Sony IMX866 sensor with OIS. A 12MP Sony IMX633 ultra-wide-angle lens and a 12MP Sony IMX663 telephoto sensor would accompany the primary sensor.
The display will house the 16MP selfie camera inside the punch-hole in the display. The cover display of the smartphone is also tipped to house another 16MP camera and an in-display fingerprint scanner. The upcoming Vivo X Fold 2 will be backed by a 4800 mAh battery, supporting 120W fast charging tech. The smartphone would be available in red, black, and blue colour options.
