Vivo has officially launched its second foldable smartphone, the Vivo X Fold 2. Alongside, this new device, Vivo also has unveiled its first flip phone dubbed as the Vivo X Flip. The newly launched Vivo X Fold 2 is the first foldable smartphone that comes powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor. On the other hand, the Vivo X Flip comes with Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC. Both these new devices feature a 120Hz AMOLED display. The Vivo X Fold 2 features a 50MP camera and the company’s self-developed V2 imaging chip. The X Flip sports a 50MP camera with an OIS support, a 32MP selfie camera, and has stereo speakers support.

Vivo X Fold 2, Vivo X Flip Pricing, Availability

The Vivo X Fold 2 comes in Shadow Black, China Red and Azure Blue colour options. The device is priced at CNY 8999 (roughly Rs. 1,07,455) for the 12GB RAM + 256GB variant, while the 512GB model with 12GB RAM costs CNY 9999 (roughly Rs. 1,19,400).

The Vivo X Flip is available in Diamond Black, Purple and Silk Gold colour. The Vivo X Flip 12GB RAM model with 512GB storage retails for CNY 5999 (roughly Rs. 71,640), while the 512GB storage variant costs CNY 6699 (roughly Rs. 80,000). These new handsets are available to order and they will go on sale in China from April 28th. No details regarding the global release of these devices are available as of now.

Vivo X Fold 2 Specifications, Features

The Vivo X Fold 2 sports a 8.03-inch E6 AMOLED LTPO display on the inside which has a 2160 x 1916 pixels resolution. The display panel has up to 120Hz refresh rate, HDR10+ support, Dolby Vision, and up to 1800 nits brightness. The outer display on the device measures about 6.53-inches. It is an AMOLED panel which has a 2520 × 1080 pixels resolution, up to 1600 nits brightness, and a 120Hz refresh rate. The display on the device has SCHOTT UTG glass cover and it also consists of a 3D ultrasonic in-display fingerprint scanner on the inside and outside. As mentioned above, this is the first foldable handset which is powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor. The device ships with up to 12GB of RAM and packs 512GB of internal storage.

On the software side of things, the Vivo X Fold 2 runs Android 13 out of the box with the company’s OriginOS 3 on top. The imaging aspect of the handset is handled by a triple-camera setup. The camera module includes a 50MP primary sensor which has an OIS support and a f/1.75 aperture. The 50MP lens has a VCS bionic spectrum technology which is developed by Vivo and Sony which reduces noise by 20% and increases color reproduction ability by 15%. The lens also has a is Zeiss T* coating. The primary 50MP (Sony IMCX866 sensor) camera is paired with a 12MP ultra-wide lens and a 12MP telephoto camera.

For the selfies and video-calling support, the handset features a 16MP camera that has a f/2.45 aperture. The device has host of connectivity features such as dual 4G VoLTE, 5G SA/NSA, Wi-Fi 802.11 ax, Bluetooth v5.3 LE, GPS, NFC, USB Type-C port, and stereo speaker setup. The device also is equipped with the company’s self-developed imaging chip V2. The phone packs a 4,800mAh battery which supports 120W fast charging, 50W wireless charging, and reverse charging.

Vivo X Flip Specifications, Features

The Vivo X Flip flaunts a 6.74-inch AMOLED display that has Full HD+ 2520 × 1080 pixels resolution. The device has 120Hz refresh rate and 1920Hz High frequency PWM dimming. Furthermore, the phone has a secondary display on the backside which measures about 3-inches and it has curved edges. It is an AMOLED panel that has a 60Hz refresh rate and 682 × 422 pixels resolution. It can be used to display various information such as music playback and more. The device has received the world’s first TUV Rhineland certification that can achieve a folding life of 500,000 times. The handset also has a mirror application opening feature so that several apps can also be opened on the external screen without opening the inner screen.

Under the hood, the smartphone is powered by Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC which is accompanied by up to 12GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage. Similar to the Vivo X Fold 2, the Vivo X Flip runs Android 13 OS with OriginOS 3 on top. As for the imaging purpose, the handset features a dual-camera setup. The camera module includes a 50MP primary camera with an OIS support. The device also has a 12MP ultra-wide lens which has a f/2.2 aperture.

The smartphone features a 32MP selfie camera, side-mounted fingerprint sensor, and has a 4,400mAh battery which supports 44W fast charging. Connectivity-wise, the phone has USB Type-C port, 5G, 4G, Wi-Fi 802.11 ax, Bluetooth v5.3 LE, and GPS.
