Vivo is reportedly gearing up to launch its new X100 smartphone series with chipsets more powerful than Apple’s A17 Pro. At least, this is what the latest rumours are hinting at. Vivo X100 and X100 Pro, which are said to be unveiled in November will be powered by MediaTek’s Dimensity 9300.

According to tipster Digital Chat Station (via GizmoChina), the Dimensity 9300 will be MediaTek’s most powerful 5G chipset so far. Further, the chipset is said to launch in October, right before Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Summit, where it is expected to unveil its next-generation Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset.

MediaTek Dimensity 9300 to Offer Significant Performance Boost

Thanks to Dimensity 9300’s octa-core design coupled with Immortalis G720 GPU, and more, it will reportedly rival the Apple A17 Pro. It will be manufactured using the next-gen N4P process, said to help with performance efficiency. The octa-core design will consist of four Cortex-X4 and four Cortex-A720 to boost performance by 15 per cent. It is also said to lower power consumption by 40 per cent.

In comparison, the A17 Pro chipset, which is designed by Apple, features a six-core CPU along with a six-core GPU (graphics performance unit). It is manufactured using TSMC’s 3-nanometer technology, which, the company says is the most advanced semiconductor technology in the industry as of now. The chipset has been used in the latest Apple iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max.

However, do keep in mind that the latest leak needs to be taken with a pinch of salt given Vivo has not officially confirmed any details regarding its new smartphone series. Although, Vivo Global President Shen Wei said the phones will launch in China by the end of 2023, he did not give out a specific date. Apart from the X100 and X100 Pro, Vivo’s new smartphone series will also include the X100 Pro+, which Wei said will be unveiled later.

Meanwhile, the Vivo X100 and X100 Pro are anticipated to offer an improved camera performance, thanks to an independent V3 ISP, which will be built on a 6nm process. Other features include an OLED display with a refresh rate of 120Hz and 1.5K resolution. The highlight will be MediaTek’s Dimensity 9300 chipset. Other features rumoured are a 5,000mAh battery backup with 100W fast charging, 32MP front camera, up to 24GB of RAM, and 1TB storage.
