Earlier this September, Chinese smartphone maker Vivo launched its latest X-series smartphone in China, the X23. Unlike the X21, Vivo has not announced a variant of the X23 without an in-display fingerprint sensor yet. However, it looks like a more affordable version of the X23 might be launching soon in China. The company has listed a new variant of the X23, dubbed the X23 Fashion Edition on its online store.
Vivo X23 Fashion Edition: Listed Online on Vivo Shop
The Vivo X23 Fashion Edition listing on the Vivo Shop does not include any specifications or features. The key info revealed by the listing is that the smartphone will be available in a 3GB RAM + 32GB storage configuration. Fortunately, however, the listing does include a render of the device, which reveals some key differences when compared to the X23. Unlike the Vivo X23, the X23 Fashion Edition has a fingerprint sensor mounted on the back of the handset, which makes it quite clear that it will not have an in-display fingerprint sensor. Another major difference is the lack of a notch. While the Vivo X23 sports a Halo FullView display with a waterdrop notch at the top, the X23 Fashion Edition has no notch whatsoever. As you would expect, the lack of a notch means the screen-to-body ratio of the X23 Fashion Edition is nowhere near as impressive as the X23.
The X23 Fashion Edition also comes with a horizontally-stacked dual-camera setup, as opposed to the vertical setup on the X23. Apart from the obvious design differences, the Vivo X23 Fashion Edition appears to have a metal unibody build with antenna lines along the top and bottom of the device. In comparison, the Vivo X23 features a 3D glass body with a solid metal frame. As for color options, Vivo has currently listed the X23 Fashion Edition in just one color – Champagne.
Vivo X23 Fashion Edition: Specifications, Features
Going by the information revealed by the X23 Fashion Edition listing on Vivo Shop, the smartphone is likely to be a budget-friendly offering. While no specifications of the device have been leaked online yet, we expect the smartphone to be powered by a Snapdragon 62X or 63X series processor. The display size will likely be slightly smaller as well, while the resolution could be 1080 x 2160 with an 18:9 aspect ratio. As revealed by the render in the listing, the smartphone will feature a dual-camera setup at the rear, although the resolution of each sensor remains a complete mystery at this point. Connectivity-wise, we expect the smartphone to support Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2 Low Energy, GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, and 4G VoLTE. In addition to the rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, we expect the X23 Fashion Edition to support AI Face Access feature as well. In terms of software, the X23 Fashion Edition is likely to launch with Android 8.1 Oreo-based Funtouch OS 4.5 out of the box.
Vivo X23 Fashion Edition: Expected Price in India
The Vivo X23 has so far been announced only for the Chinese market. That said, there is a chance that Vivo might bring the handset to the Indian market later this year. The X23 Fashion Edition, on the other hand, will likely remain exclusive to the Chinese market. Since Vivo has already listed the handset on its online store, we can expect it to be made official in China very soon.
