Vivo will launch the X80 series later this month in China. The company is expected to launch at least two smartphones under the series this time. These include the Vivo X80 and X80 Pro. The company has confirmed some key details of the devices ahead of the launch. One of the new details confirmed is around the camera setup. The company has confirmed that the X80 series will come with a Sony IMX866 sensor.

The new custom sensor developed with Sony has an RGBW filter that helps capture more light. The new sensor has been optimised to work with Vivo’s custom-developed V1+ ISP. Let’s take a look at more details about the Vivo X80 series specifications, features and other details.

Vivo X80 Series Camera Features Detailed

Vivo will launch the X80 series with a Sony IMX866 sensor on April 25. It is currently unknown which model will debut with the new sensor. The company has previously confirmed that the X80 series will feature a Samsung GN5 sensor, which is a 50MP 1/1.3” sensor. This sensor could be included in the higher-end models. The IMX866 sensor could be a part of the vanilla model.

Vivo has not yet confirmed the megapixel count of the IMX866 sensor. The company has, however, confirmed that the X80 series will come with gimbal stabilisation. The camera setup will also feature Zeiss’ T* anti-reflective coating.

The X80 Pro will have a quad-camera setup, whereas the vanilla model will come with a triple-camera setup. A recent report revealed the specifications of the Pro model. It will come with a 50MP main camera with an f/1.57 aperture. There will be a 48MP ultrawide camera and a 12MP portrait telephoto camera. The camera setup on the Pro model will also include an 8MP periscope camera with 5x optical zoom and 60x digital zoom.

The vanilla model is likely to pack a 50MP main camera, a 12MP ultrawide camera and a 12MP telephoto camera. Both models will sport a 6.78-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. The Pro model is likely to come with a QHD+ resolution, whereas the vanilla model will come with a Full HD+ resolution.

The Pro model is also rumoured to feature a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC and a 4700 mAh battery with 80W wired fast charging support. The vanilla model will pack a Dimensity 9000 SoC and come with a 4500 mAh battery. it will also support 80W fast charging. Both models will run Android 12-based Origin OS Ocean in China.
