Vivo will debut its latest Android flagship smartphone series in China on April 25. The company is expected to announce three new flagship devices, namely the X80, X80 Pro and X80 Pro+.
Ahead of the launch, the company has dropped a trailer video and also teased the design of the X80 series. The design teasers confirm some of the previously leaked details of the X80 series ahead of the launch. Let’s take a look at the Vivo X80 series specifications, features and other details.
Vivo X80 Series Launch Date Confirmed
Vivo will debut the X80 series in China on April 25. The company has revealed the official design of the X80 series ahead of the launch. The images confirm that the vanilla X80 will come with a curved display. It will have a hole-punch cutout at the top centre and come with minimum bezels at the top and bottom.
The device is teased to launch in three colours – Cyan Blue, Orange and Black. The top portion of the rear panel has a huge rectangular block. On top of this block sits a circular camera module hosting a triple-camera setup. According to the rumour mill, the phone will have a 50MP main camera sensor and could use a Sony IMX866 sensor. Along with the main camera, the phone will come with a 12MP ultrawide camera and a 12MP portrait lens with 2x optical zoom. The hole-punch cutout is expected to house a 32MP front camera.
The design images further reveal that the phone’s volume and power buttons are located on the right edge, which means that the left side will remain flush.
In addition to the vanilla model, the company is also expected to launch the X80 Pro and X80 Pro+. The X80 Pro moniker was confirmed via a leaked banner poster uploaded on Twitter. It reveals that the phone will also launch in orange and cyan blue colours.
The phone will have a quad-camera setup on the back. It is likely to feature the same camera setup as the X80 with an additional periscope camera that supports 5x optical zoom. The X80 Pro+, on the other hand, is rumoured to feature a 50MP main camera sensor, a 48MP ultrawide camera, a 50MP telephoto camera and a 50MP portrait camera sensor.
Vivo has confirmed that the X80 series will feature a Samsung GN5 sensor, although it is unknown if all three devices will come with the same main camera. As mentioned above, there are rumours of the X80 series featuring a Sony IMX866 sensor as well. In addition to this, the phones will come with Vivo’s custom-developed V1+ chip.
All three phones are rumoured to sport a 6.78-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate support. The X80 and X80 Pro are rumoured to feature a MediaTek Dimensity 9000 SoC, whereas the Pro+ model could feature a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC. Lastly, all three phones will run Android 12-based Origin OS Ocean in China.
