According to a new report from 91Mobiles, Vivo, without organizing any event, has launched a new smartphone in India today – the Vivo Y12. According to the publication, the Vivo Y12 will reach Vivo retail stores by the end of this week, and go on sale consequently. Speaking of retail stores, the Vivo Y12 will be focused towards the offline market. The tech publication says that they have learned this from a local Vivo dealership partner. Moreover, 91Mobiles has revealed the price and specifications of the Vivo Y12. Let us have a look.

Vivo Y12 Price in India

91Mobiles reports that the Vivo Y12 comes in two variants in India – 3GB RAM + 64GB storage, and 4GB RAM + 32GB storage. This information looks quite inaccurate. Usually, when a brand launches a higher RAM capacity variant of any smartphone, it comes with increased storage as well, if not, it retains the same storage capacity as the variant that sits below. Here it is the opposite; the 4GB RAM variant has half the storage of the 3GB RAM variant. I guess we’ll have to wait till the Y12 reaches retail stores to confirm if this is true. As for the price, the 3GB + 64GB variant is priced at INR 11,999 and the 4GB + 32GB variant is priced at 12,990.

Vivo Y12 Specifications

The Vivo Y12 sports a 6.35-inch display with HD+ resolution and 19.3:9 aspect ratio. The display has thin bezels around it, and a tiny notch at the top that houses the front-facing camera.

Speaking of the camera, the Vivo Y12 features a 13MP + 8MP + 2MP triple-camera setup at the back, and an 8MP camera at the front. It is still unclear what functionalities does the triple-camera setup at the rear offer. Although, in my opinion, the 13MP sensor could be the main camera and it will have a conventional field of view, the 8MP camera could be an ultrawide unit, and the 2MP camera could be the depth sensor.

The smartphone features the MediaTek Helio P22 processor; it has octa-core Cortex-A53 CPU and PowerVR GE8320 GPU. The device is available in two configurations in India – 3GB RAM + 64GB storage, and 4GB RAM + 32GB storage. Needless to say, the Vivo Y12 runs on Android 9 Pie operating system with Funtouch OS 9 user interface customization.

The most exciting part about the Y12, however, is that the device packs a 5000mAh battery. And according to the source, the smartphone features reverse charging as well, meaning that it can charge other devices on the go. The smartphone features a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, microUSB port, a 3.5mm audio jack, dual-SIM slots with dual-VoLTE, Wi-Fi b/g/n, and Bluetooth 4.2.
