In the past few months, there were reports about Vivo planning to announce a new phone in its budget Y-series in India, dubbed Vivo Y5. A new report from 91Mobiles based on the internal sources suggests that the company will be launching the Vivo Y5 as Vivo Y17 in India. Additionally, the report includes an image of the upcoming phone giving us the first look at the design.
Vivo Y17 To Launch Soon in India With Gradient Design, Expected Pricing
The image of the Vivo Y17 is a promotional poster exhibiting the triple camera setup on the rear and fast charging support. The triple rear cameras are arranged vertically aided by an LED flash at the end. The phone also appears to feature a fingerprint sensor. Design-wise, the Vivo Y17 seems to have minimum bezels around the screen clubbed with a waterdrop notch on top housing the front camera.
Concerning its price in India, the Vivo Y17 is expected to launch at INR 16,990 in India. It is being promoted as the most affordable smartphone with triple rear cameras.
Vivo Y17 With Triple Rear Cameras, 5000mAh Battery With Fast Charging Support
According to a report by 91Mobiles, the Vivo Y17 will come with a 6.35-inch display and will be powered by a MediaTek Helio P35 processor paired with 4GB of RAM. For now, only the presence of a triple camera setup has been confirmed by the report. We are yet to know the complete specifications. On the software front, the phone is expected to run Android 9 Pie. A massive 5,000mAh battery is expected to back the device with fast charging capabilities.
Given its specs and price point, the Vivo Y17 will be facing tough competition from Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 7 Pro and Realme’s upcoming Realme 3 Pro smartphones. Priced lower than the projected price of the Vivo Y17, respective rivals from Xiaomi and Realme will act as barriers in front of the Y17. Not just these two phones, even ASUS’s Zenfone Max Pro M2 will be a solid competitor with its powerful specs at affordable pricing.
We hope Vivo launched the Y17 at lower pricing than suggested in the report. At INR 16,990, the Y17 does not seem to cut through the fierce competition unfolding in the Indian smartphone market. What are your thoughts on the Y17? Would you consider buying it just because of its triple rear camera setup? Share your opinion in the comments below.
