The Vivo Y19 made its debut in Thailand a couple of weeks ago. And recently, a report from 91Mobiles claimed that Vivo would launch the Y19 in the Indian market as well. Today, the publication has revealed another piece of information regarding the device. 91Mobiles, in its new report, claims that it has learned from its retail sources that the Vivo Y19 will launch in the Indian market with a price tag of INR 13,990 for the 4GB RAM + 128GB storage variant.
Unfortunately, there is still no information regarding the launch date of the smartphone. That being said, since retailers have started learning about the Vivo Y19, we think its launch is imminent. You should also know that Vivo is said to discontinue the V17 in the Indian market, once it launches the Y19 in the country. Since the Vivo Y19 has already launched in Thailand, we know all its specifications, and here are they –
Vivo Y19: Specifications
The Vivo Y19 features a 6.53-inch IPS LCD with Full HD+ resolution. The display has a V-shaped notch at the top, housing the front-facing camera. Vivo hasn’t yet revealed what kind of protection does the display features.
The device has three cameras at the rear – 16MP primary unit, 8MP ultrawide camera, and a 2MP macro camera. Sadly, the rear camera setup does not support 4K video recording. The selfie camera is a 16MP unit that we’ve seen in several Vivo smartphones.
The smartphone uses the MediaTek Helio P65 SoC, which is made on the 12nm manufacturing process and features two Cortex-A75 cores, six Cortex-A55 cores, and Mali-G52 MC2 GPU. On the software side of things, you get Android 9 Pie with FunTouch 9.2 on top. In Thailand, the device is available in a single memory configuration – 8GB RAM + 128GB storage
The USP of Vivo Y19 is its massive, 5000mAh battery. It even features 18W fast charging and 5W reverse, wired charging. However, what is disappointing is that the device uses a microUSB port instead of the newer and more convenient USB Type-C port.
Should You Wait for The Vivo Y19?
With the expected price tag of INR 13,990, the Vivo Y19 competes directly with the Realme 5 Pro and the Redmi Note 8 Pro. And how does it hold up against the competition? Well, the Vivo Y19 loses completely to its rivals, not only in terms of processing power, but also in terms of display, photography, and connectivity, at least on the paper. So, in my opinion, you shouldn’t hold out for this phone.
