Vivo India has launched a new smartphone in India, dubbed the Vivo Y22. The device was recently launched in Indonesia, and its pricing was subsequently tipped ahead of its launch in the country earlier today. The smartphone comes to the mid-budget range of devices in India, which has seen increasingly fewer launches due to the global supply crunch of affordable chipsets with 4G connectivity.
Vivo Y22: Price in India, Availability and Offers
The Vivo Y22 has been launched in India at Rs 14,499 for the base 4GB RAM and 64GB storage variant, and Rs 16,499 for the 6GB RAM and 128GB storage variant. The device is available for sale starting today itself, and can be purchased across all offline and online retailers — including Vivo’s own e-store. In terms of offers, buyers can get up to Rs 1,000 off on offline purchases of the smartphone using SBI Card, Kotak Mahindra and One Card credit cards. Online buyers can get up to Rs 750 off using HDFC Bank credit cards and EMI transactions.
Key Specifications
The Vivo Y22 is powered by the MediaTek Helio G70 SoC, which is a mid-budget range chipset that offers 4G connectivity. It offers up to 6GB RAM and 128GB internal storage, which can be expanded by up to 1TB through a dedicated memory card slot. To the front, the smartphone gets a 6.55-inch HD+ display with 60Hz refresh rate, with a waterdrop notch on the front housing the selfie camera. This being a budget phone, the fingerprint sensor is housed to the side, instead of being under the display.
Other key specifications of the phone include a 50MP dual rear camera with full HD video recording, and an 8MP front camera. The device is powered by a 5,000mAh battery with 18W fast charging. Based on Android 12, the smartphone also gets a couple of performance oriented software enhancements — Ultra Game Mode and Multi Turbo, to give users added performance for intensive tasks.
The smartphone also has an Eye Protection Mode to reduce screen glare and blue light emissions. It also has a flat frame design with curved edges for easier grip.
