Vivo has launched a new Y-series phone in Taiwan. The company has unveiled the Vivo Y55s 5G as its new budget 5G smartphone offering. In case you are wondering, the Y55s launched in Taiwan is different from the one launched in China back in December 2022. The Taiwanese variant of the Y55s 5G has the same processor as the Chinese variant. Both variants feature a MediaTek Dimensity 700 SoC under the hood.

Vivo has launched the Y55s 5G with two storage options in Taiwan. The base variant of the phone has 4GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. It is priced at NTD 7,990 (roughly Rs 21,300). There is also a 6GB + 128GB variant of the phone, which is priced at NTD 8,490 (roughly Rs 22,600). The phone has been launched in two colours. it is available in Galaxy Blue and Star Black colours.
The Y55s 5G sports a 6.58-inch IPS LCD with a Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2408 pixels. The screen has a 20:9 aspect ratio and 96 per cent NTSC colour gamut. It has a waterdrop notch at the top centre for the front camera. There are fairly narrow bezels around the screen, which has resulted in a 90.6 per cent screen-to-body ratio. There is support for a 60Hz refresh rate.
Under the hood, there is a MediaTek Dimensity 700 SoC. The phone packs a 5000mAh battery and supports 18W fast charging out of the box. There is support for storage expansion via a microSD card.
On the back, there is a triple-camera setup. There is a 50MP primary camera sensor and a 2MP macro camera. It also features a 2MP portrait sensor on the back. There is an 8MP front camera sensor. The device comes with a side-mounted fingerprint scanner and support for AI face unlock.
