
Vivo has unveiled a new mid-range smartphone dubbed the Vivo Y5s in China. The device comes packed with a big 5,000mah battery and a MediaTek Helio P65 chipset.
The Vivo Y5s is actually a rebranded version of the recently launched Vivo Y19 that has already got launched in China and is coming soon in India as well.

The Vivo Y5s has got listed on the company’s official China website. As per the website listing, the Vivo Y5s is kept at an asking price of Yuan 1,498 which roughly translates to somewhere around $210.

1. Display and Design
Starting things off with the display of the device, the Vivo Y5s sports a 6.53-inch FHD+ IPS LCD display giving out a resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels. The pixel density is 394 pixels per inch and the aspect ratio is 19.5:9. There is a waterdrop notch at the top of the display which houses the front camera of the Vivo Y5s. The Vivo Y5s has a screen-to-body-ratio of 90.3 percent which is decent enough considering the price point the device is being offered at.
There are three color variants of the Vivo Y5s – White, Blue, and Black.
The front of the Vivo Y5s is almost the display itself. That said, there is a considerable amount of chin at the bottom of the device. The volume rocker and the power button are on the right side of the device while the SIM tray is on the left side. At the back, we get a triple rear camera and a physical fingerprint scanner. At the bottom of the device, we get a dated USB 2.0 charging port.
2. Processor, storage, and battery
Under the hood, the Vivo Y5s is powered with a 2.0GHz octa-core MediaTek Helio P65 chipset which is coupled with 6GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB of internal storage. If in case the 128GB memory does not suffice your needs, there is scope for further expansion with the help of an external SD card.
As far as the battery of the device is concerned, the Vivo Y5s packs in a gigantic 5,000mAh battery which would be sufficient for almost all your needs.
3. Camera
Moving on to the cameras of the device, the Vivo Y5s has a triple rear camera setup. The setup consists of a 16MP primary camera with f/1.78 aperture and PDAF, an 8MP super-wide lens with 120-degree field of view, and a 2MP depth sensor with f/2.4 aperture. The camera of the Vivo Y5s comes with features like panorama shots, SuperHDR, portrait mode, time-lapse photography, professional mode, and Full HD video recording. At the front, we get a 16MP selfie snapper which also has AI capabilities.
4. OS and other features
Coming to the OS, the Vivo Y5s runs on Android 9 Pie out of the box with FunTouch OS 9.2 on top of it. To make the gaming experience better, the Vivo Y5s has features like Multi Turbo technology and a Game Magic Box feature. Double-tapping the power button quickly launches the company’s proprietary Jovi AI assistant, while a long-press on the device screen can extract vital information from the elements that are being displayed on the display (travel information, flight tickets, event reminders, and more). All-in-all, the UI is pretty interactive.
