Vivo might launch a new Y-series smartphone soon. The company is likely to launch the Y78 as its new mid-range Y-series smartphone in various markets. It is also likely to debut in some markets as the Y78m 5G. The company has not confirmed any details about the same yet. However, the launch of the Y78 seems imminent. The smartphone has been spotted on the Geekbench website ahead of its official launch. 

The listing on Geekbench confirms some key specs of the upcoming Vivo smartphone. The smartphone will launch in various markets with at least 12GB of RAM. Let’s take a look at the Vivo Y78/ Y78m specifications, features and other details known so far.

Vivo Y78/ Y78m Geekbench Listing Confirms Key Specs

The Vivo Y78/ Y78m is expected to launch soon. Ahead of the official launch, the device has been spotted on the Geekbench website. It has the model number V2278A. The listing reveals that the upcoming Vivo Y-series smartphone draws power from an octa-core SoC with a peak clock speed of 2.2GHz. It also has six cores clocked at 2.0GHz. The SoC codenamed k6855v1_64 features a PowerVR B-Series BXM-8-256 GPU as well.

Based on this, it is likely that the Y78/ Y78m will launch with a MediaTek Dimensity 930 SoC, which is also found in the likes of the Moto G73 5G, Vivo Y77 5G, etc. It is likely that the same SoC launches as the Dimensity 7020 SoC as MediaTek has been working on rebranding its mobile SoC portfolio.

The variant of the Y78/ Y78m listed on Geekbench has 12GB of RAM. We can expect Vivo to launch the smartphone with lower RAM and storage options as well. It might debut in various markets with 6GB/ 8GB of RAM as well. Vivo might also launch the phone with 128GB/ 256GB of storage options in various markets. The Y78/ Y78m scored 842 and 2099 in single-core and multi-core tests of Geekbench. It is also confirmed to boot Android 13 out of the box. The phone will have a layer of Funtouch OS 13 or Origin OS 3 depending on the market of its launch.

The smartphone was recently spotted on the Google Play certification website. It revealed the moniker and model number of the device. Alongside, the Y78 is confirmed to offer 44W charging support via a USB Type-C charging port, as per an NCC listing. The phone is likely to pack a 5000mAh battery as well.

A recent TENAA listing revealed that the Y78/ Y78m features a triple-camera setup with a 50MP main camera and a 2MP secondary sensor. The leaked live images revealed that the phone has two large circular cutouts for the triple-camera setup. These sensors and the LED flash module sit on a rectangular camera module design. For selfies, the phone has an 8MP front camera. The handset is likely to sport a 6.64-inch LCD panel with a Full HD+ resolution.
