Vivo has launched yet another smartphone in the Y-series, the Vivo Y95. We had earlier reported about the leaked promotional images and the retail box of the device, and now the company has silently made the Vivo Y95 official in the Philippines. The Vivo Y95 comes powered by a Snapdragon 439 processor with 4GB of RAM, a 20MP selfie snapper, and 4030mAh battery.

Starting with the specifications, the Vivo Y95 has a 6.22-inch FullView display bearing 1520×720 pixels resolution and waterdrop/halo notch that houses front camera and other sensors. Under the hood, the phone features the AI-assisted camera features that we first witnessed on the Vivo V11 Pro. It sports a 13MP+2MP dual camera setup on the rear coupled with a 20MP selfie snapper on the front. The camera on the Vivo Y95 also has Google Lens integration, which means that users can get information about landmarks and objects using their camera app. Other AI features on the Vivo Y95 includes AI Game mode and Vivo’s AI assistant named Jovi AI. The AI assistant is capable of running quick searches for fetching information on the weather forecast, upcoming events, and more.

The Vivo Y95 is powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 439 octa-core processor paired with Adreno 505 GPU, 4GB of RAM, and 64GB of internal storage. Unlike the Vivo X11 and the Vivo V11 Pro, this one ditches the In-display fingerprint sensor for a physical fingerprint scanner neatly placed at the middle of the back panel.

A 4030mAh battery backs the device. Connectivity options on the device include dual-band WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/ac (2.4GHz and 5GHz), Bluetooth 4.2, NFC, GPS, and GLONASS. The phone measures 155.11 x 75.09 x 8.28 mm and weighs 163 grams.

Vivo Y95 Expected Price in India

The Vivo Y95 has been priced at PHP 13,999 (approx. INR 19,184). It is available in Starry Black and Aurora Red color options. The phone is already up for purchase in the Philippines via online and offline. For now, we have no information concerning the Vivo Y95’s launch in India. We will be reporting whenever Vivo plans for the phone’s arrival in India.

Battling With the Competitors

Given the pricing and specifications of the Vivo Y95, we think that the phone has to face quite a competition in its segment. Other OEMs like Huawei’s Honor, Xiaomi, Asus, Oppo, and Realme have recently launched some powerful devices at an affordable price tag, creating a stir in the smartphone market. Taking Xiaomi’s Poco F1 as one of the examples, the phone offers the flagship chipset Snapdragon 845 with 6GB of RAM at an aggressive price of INR 20,999. Then we have the Realme 2 Pro, Honor Play, and other phones that also include compelling specs at a cheaper price tag.

The Vivo Y95 does not have any outstanding feature that would make it stand taller in front of the phones that it competes within the mid-range segment. For India, at least, Vivo will need to tread carefully with the pricing of the phone to make it big in the market.
