Vivo’s new ‘Origin OS’ under development, could launch with Vivo X60 series at the end of the year
Vivo is reportedly working on a new generation of operating system for its smartphones called Origin OS. The new operating system is said to have received significant improvements over the current generation, and is “among the first echelon of Android’s deep customised UI”. Origin OS is said to debut alongside Vivo’s upcoming flagship smartphone, X60 series, in November or December 2020.
Chinese tipster Digital Chat Station posted on Weibo stating that Vivo’s Origin OS has improved a lot over its predecessor and has “everything should be available.” The tipster did not reveal any details on what specific improvements have been made in Origin OS. This new operating system will be replaced by Vivo’s current mobile operating system, Funtouch OS, according to IT Home.
Ge Yanan, Vivo’s product manager, had last year teased a new mobile operating system called JoviOS. In the comments section of the same post, Ge Yanan confirmed that Jovi OS is indeed the new OS for Vivo and will be announced alongside the Vivo X30 series. However, there has been no update on that since then.
Vivo’s latest custom Android skin – Funtouch OS 11 0 runs on Android 11 with updated Android features from Google and a cleaner UI.
