Sony has recently confirmed that it’s developing an immersive spatial content creation system with an XR head-mounted display with high-quality 4K OLED Microdisplays. Today, we’ve spotted this device on the popular Bluetooth SIG certification website. Here’s the full scoop.
Sony XR HMD Headset on Bluetooth SIG Certification
The device appeared with the model number SRH-S1, associated with Sony’s head-mounted display. Unfortunately, the SIG certification listing didn’t reveal any specifications for the upcoming device.
However, the company has confirmed that this headset will be released in late 2024. This certification suggests that everything is progressing as planned, with Sony gearing up to unveil its first headset later this year.

Sony’s upcoming system is designed for creators with tools for 3D content production. The company plans to form partnerships with developers of various 3D software, spanning industries like entertainment and industrial design.
Initially, Sony exclusively collaborated with Siemens, a renowned leader in industrial technology, to introduce a solution for design and collaborative product engineering. This new offering leverages Siemens’ Xcelerator open digital business platform.
Under the hood, it will draw power from the Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 Platform, which is the latest XR processor by Qualcomm.
