OTT platforms are getting more popular daily, and the services’ tariffs are also increasing over the years. Recently, Netflix announced its password-sharing policy to force more people to pay for subscriptions. However, broadband users were lucky as some companies offered free access to OTT platforms along with their internet connection. Bharti Airtel was one of them which offered it’s broadband customers access to OTT platforms for free. Airtel has decided to change that decision by introducing the Airtel Xstream Lite plan (via). The company plans to move its broadband customers from the Airtel Xstream Premium plan by the end of March 2023.
What is Airtel Xstream Lite Plan?
The upcoming Airtel Xstream Lite plan is a trimmed-down version of its Xstream Premium Plan. The plan offers access to over 15 OTT platforms. These platforms include SonyLIV, Eros Now, ShemarooME, Hoichoi, Ultra, LionsgatePlay, Epicon, ManoramaMax, Dollywood Play, Divo, Klikk, Namaflix, HungamaPlay, Docubay, SocialSwag, ShortsTV, Chaupal, Kanccha Lannka and Raj Digital TV.
The new plan will bring only access to 11 OTT platforms, and OTT platforms like SonyLIV will no longer be accessible for its broadband users for free. The plan will consist of the following OTT platforms;
- Eros Now
- Lionsgate Play
- ShemarooMe
- Hoichoi
- Manorama Max
- Ultra
- Hungama
- Epicon
- Chaupal
- Raj Digital TV
- NammaFlix
Which Airtel BroadBand Users will be Downgraded from Airtel XStream Premium Plan?
Airtel was offering its Xstream Premium plan to its broadband users without any additional costs. Airtel Xstream Fiber customers who subscribe to the Rs 499 and Rs 799 plans (non-Black) and Rs 998 and Rs 1098 (Airtel Black users) will no longer be available be eligible for the Airtel Xstream Premium Plan. These users will be downgraded to the Airtel Xstream Lite plan. The change will not apply to broadband customers who claimed access from the Airtel Thanks app before March 31, 2023.
The customers will be downgraded if they have yet to claim their Airtel Xstream Premium plan from the Airtel Thanks app after March 31, 2023. Effectively, broadband users who plan to claim Airtel Xstream from April 1 can only claim the Airtel Xstream Lite plan. The validity of its Lite plan will be one year, similar to the Xstream Premium plan’s validity. The users can enjoy this additional benefit without any additional costs. So, if you haven’t claimed your Airtel Xstream benefits, head to the Airtel Thanks app to claim the premium plan benefits.
Airtel will continue to offer its Xstream Premium plan for other Xstream FIber customers who subscribe to higher plans. So if you want to continue enjoying the Airtel Xstream Premium plan for free, you must subscribe to other broadband plans offering free access.
