WhatsApp Expiring Groups is the latest feature added to the popular instant messaging platform. Notably, the Meta-owned app keeps adding new features to the platform including Mute Unknown Callers, Call Links, and more. The latest feature lets users get rid of the temporary groups after a stipulated time period. This could be useful for those who create groups for a particular event, which won’t serve any purpose after the event is over. Let’s take a look at all details of the latest Whats Expiring Groups feature in the works.

WhatsApp Will Soon Let User Set Expiry Date for Groups

The latest information comes from WABetaInfo, which has a good track record of uncovering upcoming features from the beta versions of the instant messaging platform. According to the publication, the latest feature was spotted in the beta update version 2.23.5.71 on iOS. This update reveals that WhatsApp is working on an expiring groups feature for a future update of the app. It will help users save space and declutter the chat window further. As of now users can simply archive or leave the groups they no longer wish to be part of or shown on the main chat screen.

The upcoming expiring groups feature will be located in the group info section for everyone to access. Users will be able to select from various expiry dates like in one day, in one week, custom date, and also an option to remove the expiration date if the group is deemed to be useful.

What’s important to note here is that the upcoming feature is personal in nature and won’t apply to all members of the said group. This means that when the expiry date is over, it will only be you who leaves the group and other members will continue to be part of the said group. Worth mentioning here that the expiring groups functionality is currently available on the iOS beta version.

More recently, WhatsApp also rolled out a sticker maker tool for iOS users. This tool lets users make stickers out of their own pictures conveniently. This eliminated the need to use third-party apps to do so. Additionally, the Silence Unknown Callers lets users mute calls from unknown callers who get your number from WhatsApp community.
