Microsoft Windows 11 release date

Microsoft has announced that Windows 11 will release on October 5. The new operating system update will roll out in a phased manner. The company confirmed that new devices eligible for the update will get it first, followed by making it available for existing eligible PCs and laptops.

Microsoft also expects all eligible devices to be offered the free upgrade to Windows 11 by mid-2022. If you have a Windows 10 PC that’s eligible for the upgrade, Windows Update will let you know when it’s available. You can also check to see if Windows 11 is ready for your device by going to Settings > Windows Update and select Check for updates.

The new Windows update brings the Start Menu to the centre of the screen so that users can quickly find whatever they are looking for. Along with Start Menu, Microsoft is also placing the Task Bar icons in the centre. It also brings Widgets, which will show important information such as Weather, and Calendar, and will also present you with photo previews, along with a search bar – powered by Microsoft Edge.

Microsoft is also bringing new Snap Layout, Snap groups, and Desktops to provide a more powerful multitasking experience. Microsoft says that these new features are designed to help users optimise the screen real estate so that users can have a visually clean layout. Users can also create separate Desktops based on their needs.

The company is also integrating one of its popular services, Teams, in the taskbar so that users can easily connect through text, chat, voice, or video with each other. Users can connect with each other via two-way SMS even if one of them doesn’t have the Microsoft Teams app downloaded on their device. Among the new features is the Android app support for Windows. Users will be able to discover Android apps in the Microsoft Store and install them via the Amazon app store on Windows 11.
