The first-ever season of the Women’s Premier League is kicking off on March 4, 2023. Commercially called the Tata WPL 2023, the tournament aims to be the counterpart of IPL for women’s cricket. WPL replaces the Women’s T20 Challenge tournament, which used to be held from 2018 to 2022. It now has a name more in line with IPL and some teams from IPL.
In the first season, five teams will be competing with each other in a total of 20 matches and two playoff matches. The matches will last until March 26.
