The 2022 Edition of Apple‘s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) starts later this week, on June 6. Ahead of WWDC 2022, a new report by Bloomberg and Mark Gurman suggests that Apple is all set to bring new changes to iPadOS with iPadOS 16. The Cupertino tech giant will reportedly introduce a set of new multitasking features with the iPadOS 16. These include resizeable windows and an improved multitasking interface. With these changes, the iPads will function more like a laptop, more than ever.

As of now, the iPadOS 15 allows users to open two apps side by side in a split view. Users get an option to resize the width of these two simultaneously opened apps, but the height and position of these can not be changed. The iPadOS 15 also allows users to open a third app by sliding it over from the side, but the window size can not be adjusted.

With the upcoming iPadOS 16, users will have more resizing options that will allow for a better multitasking experience. Apart from more resizing options, Apple is also planning to revamp the multitasking interface that will make it easier for the users to see the opened apps and switch between them.

In another development, developer Steve Troughton-Smith recently spotted a piece of code in WebKit which suggests that freely resizable windows are indeed coming to iPadOS. Apple has been touting iPads as a laptop alternative for years. In an attempt, the brand introduced the iPad-specific OS – the iPadOS a few years back but in reality, it was more or less a slightly modified version of the iOS rather than the macOS.
