Apple is gearing up for WWDC 2023. At the developer event, the iPhone maker is set to unveil the next version of its iOS, macOS, iPadOS and watchOS software updates. iOS 17 and watchOS 10 are tipped to get some new features later this year. Alongside software, Apple is also tipped to launch some hardware products. The company might launch a new MacBook at WWDC 2023. There have been rumours of Apple launching a MacBook Air 15-inch this year.

Adding to the development is a new report from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, who revealed that the 15-inch MacBook Air is launching at WWDC, which will be hosted on June 5. Let’s take a look at more details about the upcoming MacBook Air specifications, features and other details known so far.

MacBook Air 15-inch Launch Date Tipped

The new 15-inch MacBook Air is likely to launch at WWDC 2023 on June 5, according to a new leak. It will sit above the 13.6-inch model of the Air laptop. Apple has not confirmed any details about the same. However, Gurman, who has had a fairly accurate record when it comes to Apple-related leaks, revealed that a 15-inch Air laptop from Apple is launching at WWDC 2023.

Rumours about Apple launching a 15-inch version of its popular laptop have been floating on the web for a while now. It was initially rumoured to debut in Spring 2023. However, owing to various reasons, the launch has reportedly been pushed to WWDC 2023.

Some reports claimed that Apple might launch a new 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Air with the upcoming M3 chip. The 13-inch model is codenamed J513, whereas the 15-inch model is codenamed J515. Gurman recently claimed that the 15-inch model will launch with an SoC that is “at par” with the M2 chip found in the 13-inch model. The upcoming 15-inch MacBook will feature a chip with an 8-core CPU and 10-core GPU and will also pack 8GB of RAM.

The laptop was spotted in the App Store developer logs with the identifier “Mac 15,3” running macOS 14. The logs also revealed that the 15-inch Air has the same display resolution as the 14-inch MacBook Pro.

The design of the bigger Air laptop is likely to remain the same as the 13.6-inch variant. It will have a slightly flat frame design made of metal. The laptop will sport a notch at the top of the display for the webcam. Apple is likely to launch the laptop with a 15.6-inch IPS LCD panel.

The 15-inch laptop might feature only two USB Type-C ports and a 3.5mm headphone jack. It would be interesting to see if Apple is generous enough to launch the 15-inch Air laptop with four USB Type-C ports like it provides in the 16-inch MacBook Pro. The laptop is unlikely to get an SD card port found in the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros.

Alongside the 15-inch model, Apple is also reportedly working on an updated version of the 13-inch Air. The US tech giant also likely to launch a new Mac Pro with a powerful version of the M2 chip called the M2 Ultra and an updated version of the 2021 iMac.
