Xiaomi launched the Xiaomi 12 series last month in China. The Xiaomi 12 series consists of three devices – Xiaomi 12X, Xiaomi 12, and Xiaomi 12 Pro. Various rumours have been doing rounds on social media around another Xiaomi 12 series device – Xiaomi 12 Ultra.

Now, a new leak by Digital Chat Station on Weibo suggests that Xiaomi has decided not to upgrade the camera setup on the Xiaomi 12 Ultra. This means the upcoming flagship handset Ultra will pack exactly the same camera setup as its predecessor – Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra.

To recall, the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra was launched back in March 2021. The Mi 11 Ultra flaunts a triple camera setup on the back. The primary sensor on the 11 Ultra is a 50MP Samsung ISOCELL GN2 sensor with 1/1.12-inch sensor size and f/1.95 aperture. It also has a 48MP ultra-wide-angle lens with a 128° field of view and f/2.20 aperture. There is also a 48MP telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom and 10x hybrid zoom on the Mi 11 Ultra.

Xiaomi 12 Ultra won’t have a Rear Display!

Though the camera setup on the upcoming Xiaomi 12 Ultra is said to be the same as the Xiaomi 11 Ultra, the camera module design will be new. The protective case of the handset was leaked sometime back, which had revealed a different camera module than its predecessor. Also, Xiaomi, for some reason, has decided to drop the rear display on the successor of the Mi 11 Ultra. The rear display was one of the unique things about the Mi 11 Ultra.

The Xiaomi 12 Ultra is expected to be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor. It is expected to be equipped with a 5,000mAh battery unit and 120W HyperCharge fast charging support. For now, nothing much is known about the upcoming Xiaomi 12 Ultra in terms of specifications. However, we can expect the handset to make an appearance on certification websites in the coming weeks.
