Xiaomi is gearing up for the launch of its next flagship smartphone series. The company is likely to launch the upcoming Xiaomi 12S series successor smartphones in China later this year. Xiaomi was expected to call its next flagship the Xiaomi 13 series. However, a recent leak suggested that the devices could instead be called the Xiaomi 14 series. A Xiaomi executive reportedly denied the leaked details about skipping a number and jumping straight to the 14 series.
While we wait for some more official details about the name and the launch date, a new leak has revealed the key specifications of the vanilla model. Tipster Digital Chat Station has revealed the Xiaomi 13 5G camera specifications ahead of the launch. The tipster also listed other details of the flagship smartphone. Let’s take a look at the Xiaomi 13 specifications, features and other details known so far.
Xiaomi 13: What to Expect Under the Hood
The Xiaomi 13 will be the most affordable flagship offering from the company launching next month in China. It could arrive in India as well. The India launch details are unknown at the moment. Meanwhile, the leaked details (via) reveal that the Xiaomi 13 will feature a new camera sensor on the back. The company is said to launch the phone with a new 50MP Sony IMX8 series sensor. Tipster Digital Chat Station did not reveal the full details of the type of sensor.
The phone is said to feature the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC as well. The 4nm SoC has a peak clock speed of 3.2GHz and a new tri-cluster setup with more performance cores than efficiency cores. Despite that, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC is said to be far more efficient than its predecessor.
The vanilla model is also likely to get support for a faster 120W fast charging out of the box as opposed to the 67W fast charging found in the previous model. The display resolution is also said to get bumped up to 2K.
As per reports, the phone will sport a 6.2-inch AMOLED display. There will be support for a 120Hz refresh rate. The design renders of the vanilla model have leaked as well. It will come with a new square-shaped camera module on the back. The phone will also sport a hole-punch cutout at the top centre of the display.
Other details of the Xiaomi 13 5G are under wraps. The company is expected to launch the phone in December 2022 in China alongside the 13 Pro 5G, which is said to feature the Sony IMX989 50MP 1-inch camera sensor from the 12S Ultra. We can expect both models to come with Leica-tuned cameras. More details should be available soon.
