Xiaomi Black Shark 2 vs OnePlus 7 Pro vs ASUS Zenfone 6

The smartphone market was once a playground of two or three OEMs but is now dominated by new players who are not afraid to experiment. The list of such OEMs has brands like ASUS, OnePlus, and Xiaomi on top. Recently, all three of them launched new phones. Both ASUS and OnePlus launched their flagships – ASUS Zenfone 6 and OnePlus 7 Pro. Xiaomi, on the other hand, announced a flagship phone aimed at gaming, the Black Shark 2. In this article, we are going to pit all three phones by three OEMs against each other to check which one takes the top spot.

Xiaomi Black Shark 2 vs OnePlus 7 Pro vs ASUS Zenfone 6: Price in India

Starting with the price comparison of the three phones, the Black Shark 2 price in India is INR 39,999 for the 6GB RAM+128GB Storage model and INR 49,999 for the 12GB+256GB Storage variant.

The OnePlus 7 Pro price in India starts at INR 48,999 for the 6GB RAM+128GB Storage model, INR 52,999 for the 8GB RAM + 256GB Storage model, and INR 57,999 for the Nebula Blue variant with 12GB RAM+256GB Storage.

The ASUS Zenfone 6 is yet to launch in India, however, its global launch price is EUR 499 (approx. INR 39,100) for the 6GB RAM+64GB Storage variant, EUR 559 (roughly INR 43,800) for the 6GB RAM+128GB Storage variant while the high-end 8GB RAM+ 256GB Storage variant costs EUR 599 (approx. INR 47,000). This is just the conversion pricing, ASUS may launch the phone at higher pricing in India.

Xiaomi Black Shark 2 vs OnePlus 7 Pro vs ASUS Zenfone 6: Display and Performance

Performance-wise, all three phones are powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor with Adreno 640 GPU. However, the Black Shark 2 comes with exclusive gaming-centric features such as Liquid Cool 3.0 technology with 20x heat dissipation. It also houses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Elite Gaming to offer enhanced gaming experience alongside pressure-sensing Magic Press technology that is pressure-sensitive technology like 3D Touch on iPhones. The OnePlus 7 Pro has one of the gaming features i.e., a 10-layer Liquid Cooling system. The Zenfone 6 lacks liquid cooling or any other gaming-centric feature, but with Adreno 640 GPU it should offer a decent performance too.

Concerning display, the Black Shark 2 has a 6.39-inch full-HD+ AMOLED TrueView Display with 19.5:9 aspect ratio and Corning Gorilla Glass 6 protection. The OnePlus 7 Pro comes with a 6.67-inch Fluid AMOLED display featuring Quad-HD+ resolution and 9.5:9 aspect ratio. It is also Netflix HDR, and HDR10+ certified and protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 6. Lastly, the Zenfone 6 packs a 6.4-inch full-HD+ IPS screen with 19.5:9 aspect ratio and Corning Gorilla Glass 6 protection. As evident, the OnePlus 7 Pro boasts the best display among the three while the Black Shark 2 comes second. The Zenfone 6 loses out in the display segment as it does not have an AMOLED screen.

Xiaomi Black Shark 2 vs OnePlus 7 Pro vs ASUS Zenfone 6: Camera and Battery

Coming to the optics, the Xiaomi Black Shark 2 has a conventional camera design featuring a 48MP+12MP dual camera setup with 2x optical zoom support. It has a 20MP selfie camera on the front. A 4,000mAh battery backs the phone with QuickCharge 4 fast-charging support (27W).

The OnePlus 7 Pro comes with a pop-up selfie camera housing a 16MP Sony IMX471 sensor with Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS). On the rear, the phone has a 48MP+16MP+8MP triple lens setup with support for up to 3x optical zoom. It is backed by a 4,000mAh battery with support for Warp Charge 30 fast charging (5V/ 6A).

Asus Zenfone 6

The Zenfone 6 has a rather modern camera design with a rotating flip mechanism. It is the world’s phone to have such a setup. It has a dual camera setup with a pair of 48MP and 13MP lenses geared with dual-LED flash. This setup works as both front and rear camera. When the user selects the front camera mode in the camera app or uses the Face Unlock feature, the flip mechanism works and brings the cameras on top at 90-degree angle. When in rear-camera mode the setup simply rests in its default position, as you can see in the image above. A massive 5,000mAh backs the Zenfone 6 with Quick Charge 4.0 support.

Xiaomi Black Shark 2 vs OnePlus 7 Pro vs ASUS Zenfone 6: The Verdict

The OnePlus 7 Pro takes the cake with its HDR 10 certified display, triple rear cameras, and attractive design. However, for the ones who are looking for a premium phone with top-of-the-line gaming-centric features, the Black Shark 2 is the best and also costs less than other phones in this comparison. The ASUS Zenfone 6 is also a good phone, but its design looks uninspiring and the display is not AMOLED. We could have judged it better if its India pricing was known to us.
