Over the past few days, several reports talked about the possibility of Xiaomi giving a mid-life upgrade to the Redmi Note 8 Pro. The reports claimed that the company could ship the phone with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 730 processor instead of the Mediatek G90T chip that it currently comes with. While the source of this rumor remains unknown, several people believed that this could be a distinct possibility. There was a large subset of Xiaomi users who were not really happy with Xiaomi’s decision to use a MediaTek chipset on the Redmi Note 8 Pro, and this move was touted as a method to keep them happy.

Anyway, as the case is with some rumors, this one was quickly dispelled by Xiaomi’s Anuj Sharma via his Twitter handle. According to Anuj, Xiaomi, as of now, has no plans to launch a Qualcomm version of the Redmi Note 3. We have embedded his tweet below, which could not have been any clearer.

The Redmi Note 8 Pro is the successor to the Redmi Note 7 Pro that was released by the company earlier this year. It is touted a power, value for money Android smartphone that offers customers several flagship-grade features at a budget price. The phone currently comes in three versions starting with a base 6GB + 64GB variant priced at INR 14,999,  a 6GB + 128GB version that costs INR 15,999, and an 8GB + 128GB version that has been priced at INR 17,999. All three versions are sold via weekly flash sales, and all of them come in three color options; Shadow Black, Gamma Green, and Halo White.
