Xiaomi, earlier this year, debuted its first-ever foldable smartphone in China. The Mi Mix Fold was the company’s first bet in the foldable smartphone category. It comes with a Galaxy Z Fold 2-like design and features top-of-the-line hardware. There is no word on the official launch of the Mix Fold in India. It has been barely a few months since the launch and reports suggesting the launch of a new Xiaomi foldable have surfaced on the web. According to a new MyFixGuide report, citing tipster Digital Chat Station’s leak, the upcoming foldable from Mi will come with an improved hinge mechanism. Let’s take a look at more details on the upcoming Xiaomi foldable smartphone rumoured to launch later this year.
New Xiaomi foldable smartphone in the works
Xiaomi could launch a new foldable smartphone later this year. Ahead of the rumoured launch, alleged specifications of the device have leaked online. Chinese tipster Digital Chat Station reported that the upcoming Mi foldable would feature some sort of “proactive under-screen technology”. The company is already testing the internal structure of its next foldable smartphone, according to the tipster. It will have an inward folding mechanism and will come with an improved hinge mechanism.
The foldable phone from Xiaomi will have two displays. The foldable display built by Samsung will support a 120Hz refresh rate, whereas the outer screen will have a 90Hz refresh rate support. DCS further noted that the foldable phone will draw power from a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC under the hood. It will pack a 5000 mAh battery and a 108MP camera sensor.
Some of the specs revealed by the tipster are identical to the original Mix Fold. That being said, Xiaomi could make some internal improvements in the overall structure of its foldable device. The upcoming foldable is also said to feature the under-display camera technology.
The tipster claims that Xiaomi will launch the new foldable device in Q4 2021. There is no official word on the same.
