Xiaomi launched two interesting and affordable laptops that are clearly aimed at students and office work. These laptops aren’t heavy on the specifications, and hence sport an aggressive price. However, Xiaomi is offering some capable hardware including ample RAM and SSDs.

There are two new Xiaomi laptops. The larger 15.6-inch display model is called the Xiaomi Mi Notebook. Incidentally, the Chinese smartphone and electronics giant does have quite a few laptops with the same name. These portable computing devices pack the latest 8th-Gen Intel Core i5 and Core i7 processors. However, the newly launched Mi Notebook comes with an Intel Core i3 Processor.

The second Xiaomi laptop is called the Mi Notebook Air. It is a slim laptop that is primarily optimized for portability. However, despite sporting a smaller 13.3-inch display, the new Mi Notebook Air comes with better specifications than the Mi Notebook. Let’s look at the important aspects of the new Xiaomi laptops including the prices, availability, specifications and features.

Xiaomi Mi Notebook, Mi Notebook Air Price, Availability

The 15.6-inch Mi Notebook starts at CNY 3,399, which comes to about INR 35,000. However, during an ongoing promotion, the company is selling these devices for CNY 3,099 (INR 32,000 approx.) Being a large model, the laptop features a full-fledged numeric keypad on the right side of the keyboard. Strangely, Xiaomi hasn’t packed a lot of capable hardware for the price.

The Xiaomi Mi Notebook Air starts at CNY 3,999, which translates to around INR 42,000. The laptop is certainly lighter and smaller than the Mi Notebook. However, it gets much better specifications, including an inbuilt fingerprint scanner that supports Windows 10 biometric authentication techniques.

Xiaomi has launched the two new laptops in China. The company hasn’t confirmed availability of the devices in other regions yet. However, Xiaomi recently indicated it was planning to launch several new products, including a Xiaomi Mi Gaming laptop, in India. Hence we expect these budget laptops to land in India early next year.

Xiaomi Mi Notebook Specifications

The Mi Notebook features a 15-6inch large display. Interestingly, the laptop seems to sport a Full HD display with 1080p resolution. Xiaomi hasn’t confirmed the exact variant of the Intel Core i3 processor, except for the fact that it belongs to the latest 8th Generation. The processor works with 4GB RAM and 128GB SSD. It is quite likely the RAM and storage could be expandable.

As mentioned above, there’s a full QWERTY keyboard with a numeric keypad as well. The laptop is about 0.8-inch thick. The device gets a powerful cooling system for input and exhaust featuring dual fans. There are stereo 3W speakers. Connectivity options on the Xiaomi Mi Notebook include a single Full-size HDMI out port, USB 3.0 and 2.0 ports, an SD Card reader as well as Gigabit Ethernet port.

Xiaomi Mi Notebook Air Specifications

The Mi Notebook Air features a 13.3-inch display which too, is presumably a Full HD panel. Being smaller, the laptop comes with a keyboard that does not have the numeric keypad. However, it does sport a large mouse-pad that presumably supports gesture navigation.

The Mi Notebook Air is not only smaller, but also slimmer and lighter as well. The chassis is about 0.6-inch thick, and the laptop weighs only 2.9 pounds (1.3 Kg approx.). The laptop packs the same 8th-Gen Intel Core i3 processor, but gets 7GB of RAM. Powerful dual cooling fans, and a 40W battery with Fast Charging support, are some of the highlights of the device.

For connectivity, the Mi Notebook Air comes with USB Type-C and USB 2.0 ports, HDMI, 3.5mm audio, and microSD card port as well. Interestingly, the portable computing device also comes with a fingerprint scanner for biometric authentication that’s inbuilt in Windows 10. Both the Xiaomi laptops run the latest operating system from Microsoft, but the exact version isn’t yet known. Given the past devices, these Xiaomi laptops may run Windows 10 Home, with the option to upgrade to Windows 10 Professional.
