Xiaomi appears to have listed its Mi Laser TV projector as well as its Smart LED bulb on the U.S. retailer Walmart’s website. The popular and powerful short-throw projector and the bulb’s listing are important because this are the first few listing from Xiaomi and not a third party. In other words, Xiaomi may have officially set foot on the American soil.
Clearly attempting to benefit from the upcoming buying frenzy prior to Thanksgiving and Black Friday, Xiaomi has listed a few of its popular products on one of U.S’s biggest retailers, WalMart. The Chinese smartphone and electronics giant has always wanted to enter the huge and highly lucrative U.S. electronics market, and seems like it has partnered with WalMart.
Xiaomi Officially Enters U.S. Market With Few Products
Sharp-eyed online shoppers noticed a few product listings that clearly mentioned Xiaomi as the official seller. One of the listings offered the Xiaomi Mi Laser TV projector. While the other offered the company’s Smart LED bulb. However, there are no Xiaomi smartphone listings.
Incidentally, the listings are an important step for Xiaomi because they clearly indicate Xiaomi is now one of the official sellers. Interestingly, Amazon U.S offered the Xiaomi Laser TV projector for quite some time. The Amazon listing was asking for $2,293.99 (INR 1,65,000 approx.).
However, the seller for the projector was ‘Generic’. In other words, the Amazon listing was put up by a third-party that apparently did not have official backing from Xiaomi. Officially backing is required for quick and hassle-free repairs or returns. More often than not, third party vendors do not entertain warranty claims. Needless to mention, this casts a huge shadow of doubt and uncertainty over the purchases.
Xiaomi has interestingly chosen the Mi Laser TV projector ahead of the upcoming Thanksgiving and Black Friday buying frenzy. The U.S. retail market is gearing up for two of the biggest annual shopping festivals. Retailers sometimes stretch these single-day events into a whole weekend or even an entire week. The most popular products that buyers actively purchase are the large-screen televisions.
The Xiaomi Laser TV projector can offer up to a massive 150-inch display. Although the compatible input resolution is up to 4K, the projector can display Full HD 1080 x 1920 resolution. One of the best aspects about the Xiaomi projector is that it does not require a large distance between the device and the screen. The projector also has quad-core processor clocked at 1.8GHz, 2GB RAM and 16GB onboard storage to run Android operating system.
Xiaomi To Sell ‘Mijia’ Sub-Brand Products As Its Own
Besides the Xiaomi Mi Laser TV projector and the Smart LED Bulb, the Chinese company has listed a few more products on WalMart. Interestingly, Xiaomi sold the Bedside Color Lamp, and Smart LED bulbs under the Mijia sub-brand in other international markets. However, it has chosen to sell them under its own name in the U.S.
Xiaomi recently set foot in the U.K. The company’s senior VP, Wang Xiang, had confidently indicated earlier this year that the company will enter into an “attractive” market next year. Now that Xiaomi has entered the U.S. before 2018 ends, has the VP planned another lucrative region to expand?
