Chinese certification authority 3C had certified an upcoming Xiaomi smartphone with the model number M1901F7T. While the identity of the handset is yet to be confirmed, some are speculating that it could be a variant of the Redmi 7. The smartphone has now been certified by TENAA, revealing a few specifications as well as its design.

Xiaomi M1901F9T to Sport a 5.84-inch Notched Display

The images published by TENAA clearly suggest the Xiaomi M1901F9T will sport a waterdrop style notched display, a design feature that we have not seen on any Xiaomi smartphone so far. At the rear, we can see that the handset sports dual rear cameras along with an LED flash module. A circular fingerprint sensor is also visible on the back of the handset. In terms of specifications, the TENAA listing tells us the smartphone will feature a 5.84-inch sized display. While the resolution of the handset has not been listed on the TENAA website just yet, we expect it to offer 720 x 1520 HD+ resolution with a 19:9 aspect ratio. In terms of physical size, the upcoming Xiaomi smartphone measures 147.76 x 71.89 x 7.8mm. For reference, the Redmi 6 with a 5.45-inch display measures 147.5 x 71.5 x 8.3mm. If the M1901F9T is indeed the Redmi 7, it will be a significant improvement over the Redmi 6 in terms of the screen-to-body ratio.

When it comes to battery life, however, the Redmi 6 successor may not be as impressive. While the Redmi 6 is fueled by a 3000mAh battery, the TENAA listing reveals the Xiaomi M1901F9T will be fueled by a 2900mAh capacity battery. Going by the “M19” in the model number, the device will be a 2019 model. This means the smartphone will be officially announced only next year. Similar to its predecessor, we can expect the Redmi 7 to be launched in China before making its way to other markets. On the software front, the handset is expected to run MIUI 10 based on Android 8.1 Oreo at launch. More details regarding the hardware specifications of the smartphone will surface online once TENAA updates the listing with more detailed information.
