[Update: TWS Earphones in Tow] Xiaomi Mi 10 5G with 108MP Camera, Snapdragon 865 SoC Officially Launching in India on May 8

Update (06/05/2020, 03:07 PM):

Xiaomi has now put out another tweet announcing that the brand will be launching a new audio product on 8th May, alongside the Mi 10. The tweet is accompanied by a GIF, which gives a sneak peek of TWS earphones. Going by the design of it, these truly wireless earphones seem to be the Mi AirDots Pro 2, which are already available to purchase in India through the ShareSave App, for INR 5,302.

However, if you purchase these TWS earphones through the ShareSave app, it will take almost a month for the product to deliver as it will be shipped from China. Once launched officially in India, the Mi AirDots Pro 2 will ship from local warehouses, just like most other products on the e-commerce website. Plus, they will be sold at a cheaper price. In my opinion, Xiaomi will price the Mi AirDots Pro 2 at INR 3,999 to take on the Realme Buds Air.

The original story follows…

Xiaomi had earlier looked to bring its flagship Mi 10 smartphone in India back in March but its launch had been canceled due to ongoing Coronavirus lockdown. However, as restrictions ease from today onwards Xiaomi is yet again going to announce the unveiling of the Mi 10. Now it has been revealed by reliable tipster stufflistings that the Mi 10 launch event will take place on 8 May. It will most certainly be an online-only event since public gatherings are still banned in most places.

This will be the first flagship phone from Xiaomi to come to India since the Mi MIX 2 back in 2018. Earlier yesterday Xiaomi India head Manu Kumar Jain had shared a couple of teasers about a 108MP sensor device. We know that the Mi 10-series rocks a 108MP sensor and it is likely that Manu was referring to it in his tweet. The phone has been announced both in China and also in global markets so it is an intelligent assumption that the specs of the device should remain the same on the Indian launch as well.

Mi 10 specifications

The phone has a 6.67-inch AMOLED display which curves on either side and has FHD+ resolution. The screen does refresh at 90Hz and there is a punch-hole style cutout on the device for the selfie shooter. Powering the phone is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SoC which is paired with up to 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage.

As far as cameras go, the main camera on the phone happens to be a 108MP ISOCELL Bright HMX sensor supported by a 13MP ultra-wide lens and two 2MP sensors. The punch-hole on the front houses a 20MP snapper. Powering the Mi 10 is a massive 4,780mAh battery and it has 30W fast charging support as well. Apart from that connectivity options on the phone include 5GA/NSA, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.1, GPS/ Galileo, and USB Type-C port.
