
Xiaomi has announced the Mi 10 5G smartphone in India and it is the first true flagship phone to make its way to the country since the Mi MIX 2 back in 2018. There will only be the Mi 10 smartphone in India and not the Mi 10 Pro and Mi 10 Youth Edition, that has been announced globally and in China. Alongside the Mi 10, Xiaomi has also launched its Mi Truly Wireless Earphones 2 and a Fire TV-like streaming device called the Mi Box.
Xiaomi Mi 10 5G: Price and availability
The Mi 10 5G has been announced at a starting price of Rs 49,999 for the 8GB RAM and 128GB storage variant while the 8GB RAM + 256GB storage version is priced at Rs 54,999. During the pre-booking period, anyone who purchases a Mi 10 will also get a Mi Wireless Powerbank worth Rs 2,500 free. Users purchasing the device using an HDFC card will get Rs 3,000 back. The phone will be available for pre-booking starting today at 2.00 PM.
Xiaomi Mi 10 5G: Specifications
As the device has been announced in so many global regions already, the specifications were more-or-less going to be the same for the Indian launch as well. The Mi 10 comes with a 6.67-inch 3D Curved FHD+ AMOLED display with support for a 90Hz refresh rate, 180Hz touch sampling rate, and a punch-hole for the selfie shooter. The peak brightness of the display is touted to reach 1200 nits for easy viewing under harsh sunlight. The phone will come in two colours of Coral Green, and Twilight Grey.
Under-the-hood, the Mi 10 happens to run on the flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 chipset. In terms of configurations, the phone has up to 12GB RAM and 256GB of internal storage. For gamers, the Mi 10 has a triple-layer cooling system to regulate the phone temperature and provide for a sustained gaming experience. Software-wise, the phone will run on Android 10-based MIUI 11 skin currently but it should soon get the MIUI 12 update as soon as the global ROM rolls out.
Cameras are one of the main highlights of the Mi 10. The primary lens on the device is a 108MP sensor with a size of 1/1.33 inch and it is supported by a 13MP ultra-wide sensor, 2MP macro sensor, and 2MP depth sensor The phone supports 8K video recording at 24fps and 4K video at 60fps. Apart from that, like the Redmi Note 9 Pro-series, the Mi 10 5G can also shoot videos in Log format. As for the punch-hole, the selfie shooter has a resolution of 20MP.
Battery-wise the Mi 10 is going to pack in a 4,780mAh cell which is supported by 30W wired and wireless charging. The phone can also reverse wireless charge at 10W. The Mi 10 has 5G and dual-SIM 4G VoLTE connectivity options.
Mi Truly Wireless Earphones 2: Price and specifications
The Mi Truly Wireless Earphones 2 will cost Rs 4,499 and will start selling from 12 May onwards. As a special offer, buyers purchasing the device from 12 May to 17 May, will get the earphones for a price of Rs 3,999.
The Mi Truly Wireless Earphones 2 feature 14.2mm drivers, Bluetooth high-definition tone technology (LHDC), in-ear detection, and environment noise cancellation. Battery-wise the phone is said to have four hours of playback time while the charging case is said to provide up to 14 hours of battery life. In terms of design, the Mi Truly Wireless Earphones 2 looks quite a lot like the Apple AirPods and they pair with a Xiaomi device similarly as well by just opening the case near it.
Other features on the earphones include a touch sensor for play/pause of music or answering/rejecting a call. It also has support for both the Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa.
