Xiaomi is gearing up for yet another variant of the Mi 8 that is to be announced on September 19 in Chengdu, which is the capital of southwestern China’s Sichuan province. In addition to a teaser from Xiaomi itself, the retail information was listed on a Chinese website that reveals the specification and a September 25 sale date.

The Mi 8 Youth is expected to be even cheaper than the Mi 8 SE with the device with a price of around CNY 1,999 or Rs. 20,978.

September 15th news, Suning Tesco Xiaomi 8 Youth Edition appointment page shows that Xiaomi 8 Youth Edition will be available for sale at 10 am on September 25, but the official price has not been announced.

Previously, it was reported that Xiaomi 8 Youth Edition will return to the iconic price of 1999 yuan, and it is also the model that Xiaomi named again after the years of “Youth Edition”.

According to the official information, Xiaomi 8 Youth Edition uses double-sided glass material. The biggest change in double-shot is the horizontal design, which is still the back fingerprint recognition.

Xiaomi Mi 8 Youth: Specs

The Chinese website also continues to confirm the specifications for the device as having a 6.26-inch IPS LCD display with a 2280 x 1080 resolution, which will be powered by a Snapdragon 710Octa-core (2×2.2 GHz 360 Gold & 6×1.7 GHz Kryo 360 Silver) processor and up to 8GB of RAM with 128GB of internal storage depending on the configuration. The selfie camera is confirmed at 24-megapixels, while the rear camera sees a dual array of 12-megapixel and 5-megapixel lenses at f/1.9 and f/2.0, respectively. You’ll see a 19:9 aspect ratio that offers 403 pixels-per-inch which should offer some decent viewing angles.

The device will be powered by a 3250mAh battery and run Android 8.1 Oreo with MIUI 9.6 overlayed. The fingerprint sensor is placed on the rear of the device and it will have Type-C connectivity as we’ve become accustomed to with most modern devices.

In terms of connectivity, the Xiaomi Mi 8 Youth will have Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, dual-band, Wi-Fi Direct, hotspot, Bluetooth 5.0 A2DP LE, GPS, and a Dual SIM slot. Dimension-wise, the device will measure 156.4×75.8×7.5mm and will weigh around 169 grams.

In addition, this new machine also features a colorful color scheme. At present, the officially announced color schemes include Twilight Gold, Dream Blue, Deep Space Gray, etc., and other color combinations may be announced later, and the value is outstanding.

The device is expected to be available in Gray, Blue, Red, Gold, with the website suggesting that Xiaomi could be set to launch additional colors at a later date.

The Chinese website states that the Xiaomi Mi 8 Youth Edition will be available for sale at 10 am on September 25 with a price of around CNY 1,999 or Rs. 20,978. This price is only expected and not confirmed so it may differ as we approach the launch.

While the retail listing only reveals the 6GB of RAM with 128GB of storage option, we are expecting based on previous leaks to see an 8GB of RAM with 128GB of storage version also accompany.

With yet another Xiaomi device hitting the market, it will be interesting to see how this stacks up against the other handsets currently in the Rs. 20,000 region, especially with the Snapdragon 710 processor.
