Xiaomi Mi A1, which was launched around a year ago, is now finally getting the latest Android 9.0 Pie beta update. The company’s Mi A lineup falls under the Android One programme where smartphones receive timely software updates. Almost all Android One devices have now started receiving the massive Pie software update with Xiaomi Mi A1 being the latest addition. The new update not only brings Android Pie software but also adds various other features like FM Radio and Adaptive Brightness.
Xiaomi Mi A1 gets the Android 9.0 Pie Beta Update
An Indian user of the Xiaomi Mi A1 recently posted an image on Google+ Android Community, showing the changelog of the new update. The changelog clearly indicates that the roll-out of Android Pie has finally begun. It is worth noting that only the Indian users are currently receiving this update. The Pie beta update for Mi A1 is no surprise since the brand previously rolled out the new operating system to its second-gen Mi A2 leaving only the Mi A1 behind. Since this is the beta version, various bugs and errors are definitely going to be there. If you’re the one who doesn’t like bugs and issues on software, then you should wait for the stable roll-out. We’re expecting the brand to roll out the stable Pie update in early 2019.
As we can see in the changelog, Xiaomi Mi A1 has indeed started receiving the Pie beta update. With Android Pie update, the device now has gesture navigation which you can turn on from the settings menu. In this feature, a pill shape icon will appear on the bottom replacing the on-screen navigation keys. One of the key highlights of Android Pie OS is the Adaptive Battery which relies on artificial intelligence (AI). Xiaomi surprisingly has also added FM Radio to the device with this update. As reported by various Indian users, there is no noticeable change in the camera app.

The latest Android Pie beta update is available for those who previously registered for the company’s beta program. If you’re one of the testers who hasn’t received the update notification for some reason, here’s what you can do.
