Xiaomi’s Mi A2 smartphone turned out to be a successful addition to the series and now the company seems to be working on another phone in the same series, dubbed Mi A3. As the name suggests, the Mi A3 will be succeeding the Mi A2. All the previous Mi phones in the A-series were a part of Google’s Android One programme. According to an XDA member named franztesca, a device codenamed ‘orchid sprout’ has been spotted while digging through the MIUI 10 firmware on the Xiaomi Mi 8. Let’s check out more details concerning the Mi A3.

Xiaomi Mi A3 Codenamed ‘Orchid_Sprout’ Spotted

The XDA member franztesca also revealed that he spotted the same device while tearing down the MIUI 10 firmware build for the Xiaomi Mi Mix 3. Although the codename ‘Orchid_Sprout’ does not uncover any substantial detail concerning the Mi A3, it does confirms that the upcoming phone will also be a part the Android One programme. This confirmation pops out of the ‘_Sprout’ in the codename that has always been a part of Xiaomi devices that run Android One. On the same grounds, the Xiaomi Mi A1 had the codename ‘Tissot_Sprout’; Mi A2 had ‘Jasmine_Sprout’ and the Mi A2 Lite had ‘Daisy_Sprout’.

Moreover, prior to the launch of the Mi A2 and the Mi A2 Lite, the leaked details showed the codenames containing ‘_Sprout’ that confirmed their relation to Android One and indirectly to the Mi A-series. Xiaomi starts software testing of a device before it gets submitted for certifications, which means that the Mi A3 will take months before we get to know more about it through certifications.

Mi A3 Might Be The First One To Feature NFC Feature

The latest leak did not reveal any details regarding the display size of the Mi A3, neither the processor or RAM capacity. We also do not know if the phone will sport a notch. However, the firmware files have revealed that the upcoming phone may come with NFC support. The files mention NFC chip from NXP. If this information is anything to go by then, the Mi A3 will be the first phone in the Mi A-series to come with NFC support.

We can also expect Xiaomi to launch a rebranded version of the Mi A3, dubbed Mi 7X in China. This way, the company will be sticking to its streak of launching a phone in China first and then bringing it as Mi-series phone in other regions. To recall, the Xiaomi Mi 6X was rebranded as the Mi A2 while the Mi 5X was launched as the Mi A1. Now that we have some scoop about the Mi A3, Xiaomi must be planning to bring it out in China first and then launch it in the other regions including.

Few other things that we can expect on the Mi A3 are that it may come with a better camera, design, chipset, and battery capacity than the Mi A2 smartphone. With other brands focussing so much on the design aspect and bringing phones with gradient finish back panels, the Mi A3 might be one of the first ones from Xiaomi to conform to the trend.
